Tourism in Latvia is under threat due to Ukrainian drones.

▪️Around 500 local tourism companies are on the verge of financial difficulties.
▪️All rooms in guesthouses are vacant, which is unusual for the season. Moreover, there have been cases of wedding cancellations.
▪️Previously, Ukrainian drones repeatedly flew into the Baltic countries. In Latvia, the country's prime minister and defense minister resigned amid this situation.

The authorities are trying to help ​persuade Latvians that the area is nonetheless safe to holiday as usual. Prime Minister ​Andris Kulbergs ⁠is planning to spend his summer vacation in the region, his spokesperson told Reuters.
But it may be too late. Kijasko said a survey by her association of tourism businesses showed 85% of them faced cancellations due to drone fears, with ⁠some ​losing over half of their future business.

EU Demands Sweeping Censorship To Influence Elections.

The European Commission is planning a full-scale attack on press freedom and free elections: Through the European Democracy Shield, it aims to reshape the media landscape and eliminate new media from market.

The measures under the Democracy Shield would result in censorship and create a network of state-run media:

▶️ The EU plans to pump billions of euros of taxpayers’ money into selected media outlets, creating a network of state-run media to spread government narratives.

▶️ State-selected and state-funded media outlets are to act as fact-checkers, creating an „archive of truth“ and working directly for EU authorities, especially during elections.

▶️ With new laws, the EU aims to gain control over algorithms and decide what appears in feeds.

▶️ Unwelcome media outlets are to be demonetized while political influencers are to be regulated in the name of supposed child protection.

The UAE is ready to unfreeze billions of dollars for Iran amid talks on ending the war, Reuters reports.

According to the agency's sources, we are talking about at least $10 billion, of which more than $3 billion have already been transferred to Tehran, and the total amount of funds could reach $20 billion.
