About Card-on-File Tokenisation (CoFT):
- The central bank initiated CoFT in 2022 with the primary objective of augmenting convenience for cardholders by facilitating the creation and linking of tokens to their existing accounts with e-commerce applications.
- Tokenisation involves replacing actual credit and debit card details with a unique code, known as the "token." This token is specific to a combination of the card, token requestor, and device.
