Rajat Sambyal revealed that he gave six attempts, out of which he failed three times in prelims and two times during mains.
Sambyal scored 149 in personality test, bringing his final score to 942.

The results of prestigious UPSC civil services examinations 2021 were declared on May 30 , the Internet has been flooded with congratulatory messages for those who cracked the exam. The social media has also been buzzing with inspirational stories of aspirants who passed the exam.
However, there were also many who could not go through this year. For several aspirants, this was also their final attempt, including one such Rajat Sambyal, who invested 10 years of his life to the civil services examination and gave six attempts, but missed his last try by 11 marks.
"I succumbed due to low score in interview," Sambyal said, who took to micro-blogging platform Twitter to share his UPSC journey which came to an end this year.
"10 years of hard work ended in ashes," the aspirant wrote as he shared his story on Twitter
