Next week on Wednesday there will be a nice Vernissage in Deutsch-Französischer Garden in Saarbrücken where I’ll be presenting my newest work.

Majó (Marika Pyrszel) regularly visits the park and creates land art there. One of the exposed stones in the “Valley of Flowers”, situated in the water, is creatively covered with algae from the stream. The next day, the resulting crust serves as a canvas. Majó enters a meditative state, listens to the soundscape, observes the patterns of the algae, and adds colors.

“Serene,” in terms of weather conditions or metaphorically referring to character traits: calm, peaceful, clear, is used here as a noun in the title. This aims to establish an association with the siren from mythology, highlighting both the aspect of calm, meditative work and the drastic impact on the small ecosystem. Just as the siren’s cry drastically injured ears yet was perceived as something beautiful, this title underscores the ambivalence of the artistic intervention.

r.o.a.r. (reimagining our aural relationships) will play live a “deep map-audio paper” of the Vjosa River, blending layered field recordings with voices from local communities, captured during an extensive journey along its banks. Using electronic devices, majó and ili Os mix these recordings live, weaving in instruments and live-generated sounds from natural materials gathered along the way.

We’re excited to continue the evening with an aftershow featuring "Uj Pa Gaz"!

🔉for a special broadcast of r.o.a.r.: unBound Rivers: A Deep Map & Sound Journey.

This sonic exploration, by r.o.a.r. (Reimagining Our Aural Relationships), was the culmination of an extensive journey along Albania’s Vjosa River, performed and recorded live at Destil Creative Hub in Tirana on 16.11.24.

The performance weaves together the voices of local communities in three languages (Greek, Albanian, English). The river itself speaks through immersive field recordings and those interviews.

The Audio Paper includes polyphonic songs sang by „Lali Toupli“ at WeLoveStories Festival in Crete in 2023.
