We are thrilled to present "Expressive Machines", an exhibition curated by the Machine Arts Group at AI+X Summit organized by ETH AI Center !

This exhibition explores how AI and robotics move beyond image generation into the realm of physical expression. Robots that draw, interpret, and paint transform perception into gesture and code into brushstroke, raising the question: can machines develop their own aesthetics and become creative themselves?

Featuring three live installations: ✍️ Patrick Tresset’s autonomous drawing agents 🖼 Sofie Mart’s image interpretation techniques 🎨 e-David, a painting robot developed by Michael Stroh at the University of Konstanz
📍 StageOne, Zurich Oerlikon | 1st Floor, Cube 1 🕔 02.10.2025 | 17:00 – 21:30 🎟 General Admission: 20 CHF | Students: 10 CHF 📌

Another great event is coming up next week!

We are happy to announce an artist talk by our dear guest, Patrick Tresset, next Friday in Zurich!

Patrick is an internationally acclaimed contemporary French artist best known for performative installations, drawings, and generative works that use robotics, AI, and traditional media to explore human presence and experience.

Hey Everyone! We unfortunately have to move our meetup to the next week. We’ll meet on the 14.10 at 7pm at Zentralwäscherei, Neuehard 12 (cafe on the ground floor). You are welcome to join us 😊🙌🏻
👋🏻👋🏻 We are organizing an extended machine painting workshop! Join us for two days of playful experimentation: build your own DIY robotic painting kit and learn the art of machine painting.

Over two days, participants will assemble and program a small painting robot, explore image-processing and machine-control techniques and produce a set of small paintings.

Structure:

1️⃣ Day 1 Build & Code: assemble and run the physical system, learn the basics of image and G-code processing.

2️⃣ Day 2 Play & Paint: learn about different machine painting techniques, experiment and make your own paintings.

When: 6–7 December 2025 (afternoon hours, exact time TBU)

Where: Bitwäscherei, Neue Hard 12, Zürich
