Weekly app round-up?
Hello, first post here. As a relatively new Reddit user, I was wondering if there would be a way to get a weekly list of all apps discussed in the previous seven days, whether it's a weekly email, a summary post, or something else entirely.
Personally, I struggle with too much information at once due to lifelong health issues, and a bigger collection of apps to check out makes it quite painful and overwhelming for me to consume such information. Very likely, also for other people who share similar conditions as mine, should they be users of this space.
Thank you.

Media Renamer Pro 1.3.8: one Mac app that renames your photos, movies, TV, music, audiobooks and ROMs from the metadata inside the files
Disclosure: I made this. Solo dev.
PROBLEM
Media folders fill up with names like IMG_4471.HEIC, Track 03.mp3 and Show.Name.S03E07.1080p.mkv. Media Renamer Pro reads what is already inside the files (EXIF dates, music and video tags, audiobook tags), adds online lookups when you want them, and shows you every new name in a preview before anything changes. Hit apply and the whole batch is renamed. Hit undo and it all goes back. It works on local folders, external drives and SMB/NAS shares.
WHAT IS NEW IN 1.3.8
This is the biggest accuracy update so far, tuned on tens of thousands of real files on my own NAS.
Tag review. When the tags inside a file disagree with its filename, you see both side by side and pick the winner: keep the filename, use the tags, edit the name, or skip. Works for movies, TV, music and audiobooks.
Safer names. Lookups add to a name and never take anything away. Your words, punctuation, years and bracket notes stay put.
MKV tags are read, and tags inside video files fill in TV and movie names the filename cannot provide.
Multi-episode files come out in the standard S03E01-E02 form.
Game libraries keep disc numbers and system files, and installed game folders are left alone.
COMPARISON
FileBot is the name everyone knows. It is built around movies and TV, it is a cross-platform app, and it costs $8 a year or $80 for a lifetime license. A Better Finder Rename is $29.95 and renames from patterns you set up yourself.
Media Renamer Pro is different in four ways. It is a native Mac app, not a port. It handles your whole library in one window: photos, movies, TV, music, audiobooks, game ROMs and general files. It checks its own work, so when a lookup or a tag disagrees with the filename it shows you both and lets you decide instead of guessing. And the same purchase runs on your iPhone and iPad, which neither of the others offers.
PRICING
$4.99. Once. That is less than one year of FileBot and about a sixth of A Better Finder Rename, for seven media types, full preview, tag review, one-click undo, NAS support and three platforms. No subscription, no account, no ads, and every update so far has been free.

FanFic to Audio: a free Mac app for turning fanfiction into audiobooks
https://preview.redd.it/gjvca23ul3uh1.png?width=2318&format=png&auto=webp&s=f88554f4587ba6026e92e5a1206e44a5a64a2de3
Hi [r/macapps](https://www.reddit.com/r/macapps/)! I’m **Dr. Matt Booth**, an educational technology systems administrator and CS/IT lecturer. I built **FanFic to Audio**, a free, open-source Mac app that downloads fanfiction as EPUB and converts it into audiobooks.
**Problem:** I wanted to download stories and create audiobooks in one app, including processing multiple books and combining stories whose series order isn’t configured on the original website.
The app lets you:
* Download stories as EPUB or open existing EPUBs.
* Add multiple books to an audiobook queue and move them up or down.
* Save narration settings for each book and resume interrupted conversions.
* Combine separate EPUBs into an ordered series.
* Narrate with macOS voices or your own OpenAI or ElevenLabs API key.
* Export a single MP3, individual chapter MP3s, or an M4B with chapters and cover art.
**Comparison:** [FanFicFare](https://github.com/JimmXinu/FanFicFare) handles story downloads and EPUB updates, while [NaturalReader](https://www.naturalreaders.com/software.html) focuses on general text-to-speech reading and conversion. FanFic to Audio brings FanFicFare’s downloader into a native Mac interface with bulk audiobook queues, series combining, and chapter-aware exports.
The download engine is **FanFicFare**, created by **Jim Miller (JimmXinu) and the FanFicFare contributors**. They deserve the credit for its website support and EPUB downloading. My app is independently maintained.
**Pricing:** The app is **$0**, with no app subscription. Local macOS narration requires no paid AI account. Optional OpenAI and ElevenLabs narration uses your own API keys, with charges billed separately by those providers.
**Developer transparency — Tier 2:** Here are my public identity, professional background, developer portfolio, contact details, and policies:
* **Website:** [mattbooth.me](https://mattbooth.me/), including a **Privacy Policy & Terms of Service** button.
* **LinkedIn:** [Dr. Matt Booth](https://www.linkedin.com/in/mpbooth).
* **Developer portfolio:** [My GitHub projects](https://github.com/thatosxguy?tab=repositories).
* **Contact:** [admin@strixmcs.com](mailto:admin@strixmcs.com).
* **Privacy Policy & Terms of Service:** [Separate public policies repository](https://github.com/thatosxguy/policies).
The app has no application analytics or developer-operated backend. Local narration runs on your Mac. Choosing AI narration sends the selected text to that provider; saved API keys are stored in macOS Keychain.
**Requirements:** Apple silicon, macOS 14 or later, and a separate FFmpeg installation. Version 1.3.0 is **ad hoc signed and not notarized**; please read the [installation guide](https://github.com/thatosxguy/FanFictoAudio/blob/main/docs/installation.md) before opening it.
[**Download v1.3.0**](https://github.com/thatosxguy/FanFictoAudio/releases/tag/v1.3.0) · [**Source code and documentation**](https://github.com/thatosxguy/FanFictoAudio)
I’d welcome feedback on the workflow, supported websites, and audiobook exports.
**Posting note:** I’ve followed the **Tier 2 Transparency Path** requirements for posting to the main feed by including my real identity, LinkedIn, developer portfolio, public contact details, and a website linking to my Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

I built the signature app Apple Mail never had: one-click install, it survives macOS updates, and it's a one-time price
https://reddit.com/link/1wz5thw/video/hf8jhzbsavth1/player
Hi r/macapps. I'm Christian, the developer of Autograph, so this is my own app.
Problem
Apple Mail signatures are painful. You paste HTML into a settings pane, your logo arrives as a broken attachment or a blue question mark for the person you email, nothing reaches your iPhone, and after a macOS update or an iCloud sync the signature can simply vanish.
What Autograph does
Pick a template (they're arranged by profession) and change anything: every part has its own colours, fonts, sizes and spacing. A Phone view shows how it looks on an iPhone.
One click installs it into Apple Mail and assigns it to the right accounts. No copying HTML, no dragging files around.
If macOS or iCloud wipes it, Autograph puts it back.
Photos, logos and banners are hosted, so they render in Gmail and Outlook instead of arriving as attachments.
Dark mode: it makes dark-mode versions of your logo, banners and icons, and mail apps that honour dark mode, like Apple Mail, show them.
iPhone and iPad: scan a QR code, paste, done.
Swift app (the editor uses WebKit, since a signature is HTML), notarized, universal, macOS 14 or later.
Comparison
WiseStamp and the other web generators are subscriptions, and they end with you pasting HTML into Mail's settings yourself.
Email Signature Generator (App Store) has a one-time Pro, but it also ends in copy and paste, your logo and photo have to be online somewhere already, and every signature carries a "Powered by" line.
Mail Signature for Mail App (App Store) does write into Apple Mail and lets you assign accounts yourself, but its images go in as attachments, which is what shows up as attachments or question marks for the people you email.
What I couldn't find anywhere was all of it together: install and assign inside Mail, keep it there after updates, images that render for the recipient, and one price, once. If a tool already does all of that, tell me and I'll link it.
Pricing
Free: install into Mail, account assignment, the automatic repair after a wipe, iPhone setup, text templates. No time limit, no card.
Pro: $59 once for 2 Macs, $39 until November 1. Photos, logos, banners, every template and full styling. 14-day money-back.
No account, no subscription, free updates.
Limits, honestly
Apple Mail first. Pro can copy the HTML for Gmail or Outlook, but it only installs into Apple Mail.
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
It's a one-person app. Bugs reported here get fixed, and there's Help > Send Feedback in the app.

Ahem! Unmissible Full-screen Meeting Reminders
Hey everyone! I'm the solo dev of **Ahem!** It launched today, so I'm excited to finally share it.
Problem:
Meeting reminders can be very easy to miss or ignore for some of us.
Ahem! started as a tool for my wife to help not miss meeting reminders due to her ADD. I found it super useful for myself too, I'm a remote game designer and would regularly be late for meetings after missing notifications while in deep focus on an editor or spreadsheet task, usually with music blasting through my headphones.
After a lot of positive reception and encouragement from friends and colleagues, I decided to actually try ship it. So after venturing slightly out of my game dev comfort zone, here I am!
What it does:
Meeting reminders trigger a full screen overlay, with join buttons for over 20 video call services
Includes a full day timeline, and can be opened via a hotkey
Only reads your calendar data and never edits it
Handy widgets for your desktop.
There's no Ahem account to create and no tracking or telementry. Your calendar data is your business, not mine.
I've been using it for months now and its become part of my working day. Just being able to hit the Return key when a meeting reminder opens to join a call is satisfying.
Comparison:
In Your Face is probably the closest comparison, with full-screen meeting alerts and join buttons. It currently supports more video conferencing services.
Ahem combines full-screen reminders with a full-day timeline you can bring up with a hotkey. The other big difference is price: the regular US Mac price is $6.99 as a one-time purchase, compared with In Your Face’s $69 one-time desktop licence.
I wanted an affordable tool that handles the meeting reminders my wife and I kept missing, without tracking or a recurring bill.
Pricing:
The regular US Mac price is $6.99, paid once, with no subscription. There's 20% off through the website for launch, bringing the US price to $5.59. Regional pricing is available.
One-time purchase. US price is $6.99
Details and download options on https://www.ahemapp.com
Bonus:
An iOS companion launched alongside it for when you're on the go, with meeting join buttons in Lock Screen Live Activities, Dynamic Island peaking, and widgets for your Home Screen and StandBy.
This solved another problem for me, I do the school pickup on foot and sometimes have calls to join on my phone. Having the reminder and join button right there on the Lock Screen has proven SUPER useful!
Happy to answer questions. I'd also like to hear from anyone who has the same problem and what has worked for you.

OS Open Contexts: a free Mac window switcher with a sidebar and saved window groups
Hi r/macapps! I’m Sihua Zheng (zshnb), the developer of Open Contexts.
Problem
When you have several Chrome, Finder, or editor windows open, macOS Cmd+Tab gets you to the app, but you still have to find the window you want.
Open Contexts lets you switch between individual windows and organize them by task:
Cmd+Tab lists windows in most-recently-used order.
Cmd+backtick lists windows of the current app. Both shortcuts are customizable.
A sidebar on the left, right, or bottom keeps windows within reach.
Create named groups, drag windows from different apps into them, and pin their order. Groups are saved across restarts.
Groups organize the window list; they don’t reopen apps or restore desktop layouts.
Comparison
Compared with Contexts, Open Contexts adds saved custom task groups with pinned windows. Contexts offers search and trackpad switching gestures, which Open Contexts doesn’t support yet.
Compared with AltTab, the focus here is a compact title list paired with a persistent sidebar and saved task groups. If visual previews are essential to your workflow, AltTab offers those.
Pricing and permissions
$0, with all features included. Open source under Apache 2.0. No account or subscription. Requires macOS 13+.
The app requires Accessibility permission to identify and activate windows. Window and group data stays on your Mac, and the app has no built-in usage analytics. The privacy policy covers update requests and website analytics separately.
