Finally found a screen recorder that does more than just zoom in and out
So like 4 months ago I was making tutorial videos for my side project and honestly the recordings were so boring, just me clicking around with zero emphasis on what actually mattered, people kept asking questions in the comments about stuff I literally showed on screen lol
I tried a bunch of different ways to make things clearer, some would just auto-zoom which was kinda helpful but still felt flat, others had so many effects it looked like a TikTok edit gone wrong, I was lowkey spending more time editing than actually recording at that point
Then I found something that let me spotlight specific areas and add this clean lightbox effect around important parts, made my demos actually watchable without looking overly produced, now when I show a button or feature people actually notice it instead of me having to circle it in post or redo the whole thing
Honestly kinda surprised more recording setups don't have this stuff built in, makes such a difference when you're trying to show someone how to do something or demo a feature without just talking over a boring screen capture

Hi r/macapps, I've spent the last couple of months building Swik and I'm shipping its first public launch today. It's a radial menu for macOS: hold a trigger, drag toward a wedge, release. That's the whole loop.
Default trigger is Shift+Space, but of course, bind to any key combination that's comfy for you.
# Problem | Too many Cmd+tabs, too much Spotlight
Like everyone else, I have too many windows open. Even spread across multiple desktops, I was furiously cmd-tabbing to get to my app, or just opening Spotlight/Raycast to type out the app.
Perhaps it's just me, but my hand naturally rests on my mouse or trackpad when I'm about to context switch. Launching things with my mouse seemed to make sense.
Without Swik
Cmd+Tab through 10+ apps to find the right one
Spotlight → type app name, declutter from duplicates → wait →press Enter
Go through the above process for apps that I frequent the most (Notion, Slack, Chrome, Gmail)
Felt like a whole bunch of wasted time.
