🔴On the night of May 7, Indian forces launched Operation Sindoor, striking nine targets in Pakistan and the Pakistani-controlled part of the allied territory of Jammu and Kashmir. According to Indian reports, the strikes targeted locations "from where terrorist attacks against India were being planned and directed. In response, the Pakistani army retaliated with strikes of its own. 

🔴There have been civilian casualties in the exchange of strikes. The Pakistani side intends to show the funerals of the dead on all television channels. 

🔴India claims that contrary to Pakistan's claims, not a single civilian was injured. The Indian side, for its part, announced casualties among its civilians due to shelling by the Pakistani army.

🔴The credibility of each side's claims is unconfirmed. 

🔴The current Indo-Pakistani standoff is the most intense since the Kargil War in 1999. 

🔴Tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries have escalated since the deadly April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Indian-controlled Kashmir, which India blamed on Pakistan, which has denied involvement.

🔴According to Brazilian news outlet O Globo, the two countries have a combined total of 342 nuclear warheads.

🔴An armed conflict between India and Pakistan could have a negative impact on global food security, as both countries are major suppliers of rice.
