👉 I know of wives who demand that their husbands do equal part of household chores. If my partner was building a business worth tens of millions and I was not, I would think it is better that she focuses on growing the value of that business rather than doing the dishes. After all, I could hire all the help I want, spend a few hours managing them and relax the rest of the time. I would have no delusion that it is harder to run a household of two or four compared to running a corporation with hundreds of employees and thousands of customers. My mother treated me like I was doing the most important work in the world even if I was reading some random book from the local library while she did not have an army of help. Thankfully, she did not tell me or my sister when we were growing up that it is important for us to do the housework like some feminist mothers would do today.

👉 Our family struggled to survive on my father’s salary. My mother stepped out of her comfort zone, hunted for jobs, and became a professional. It took her 7 years of struggle to find a job in communist west bengal but she did not give up. She took pride in doing her job well. As a child, I looked up to my mother’s drive to be good at her work.

👉 It was not an upskilling friendly world back then. But my mother, at the age of 40, did her master's degree when she got a chance. She was told that she will not get a higher scale at her job even if she does a master degree, yet that did not deter her. She was always trying to learn singing, and very passionate about it. I learned from her that there is no limit to learning, learning for the sake of it is worth it.

👉 I really didn’t see my mother taking time out for leisure. We did not have a TV at home. She did not gossip with others in our locality like the other mothers in my locality. If she had extra time, she would cook something for me and my sister. Looking back I realise she always put her kids first, before her own comfort. And I guess I learned the value of being productive from her.

Bonus: My mother loved and cared for me. That is just priceless.

My mother is not perfect, but I am glad I was raised by her. Can’t imagine who I would be otherwise❗️

Fastest new business launch I ever did - thanks to AI

Let me show you how much easier it has become to launch a business - whether a product or a service, thanks to AI. Anyone, anyone can launch a business now and every step is a lot easier.

I was thinking that I want to launch a new service, through which we can generate more work for our learners.

We give a lot of work to our learners, which they usually undertake under the guidance of our in-house experts, because by doing real life work they can really learn a lot that they cannot learn from mere simulation exercises.

Plus people love the RoI from the course if they can start earning even before finishing their course.

I got the idea of starting a quick and affordable ESOP service. It’s something that is not hardcore legal or accounting services, but many of my learners, whether from law, CA, CS or even HR background, can work on ESOP set up assignments.

We decided to launch a new brand for ESOPs - and named it AccioESOPs.

At first, I asked my colleagues to make a brochure.

What I got was not something I was convinced about. It was dry, a lot of information. I did not feel that it speaks to the heart and minds of potential clients.

So what do I do?

I decided to do a client persona analysis. That too with the help of AI.

I want to know:

👉 Who are my ideal clients
👉 What are their common problems
👉 What are they thinking about with respect to the problem I am trying to solve

Let me show you how AI helped me.

I went to https://founderpal.ai/user-persona-generator.

I fill in the blanks.

This is what I got based on these two simple inputs.

There is a paid version where I could get more information about this persona, but I was already having enough.

Using this character, I wrote a simple journey story of Pinky, a smart and ambitious startup founder.

I described her pains, problems and experiences in story format.

Once the potential client sees their problem properly described they understand they are in the right place. We know what their issue is. This is half the battle won.

Next we need to describe the solution.

We finish the story highlighting how Pinky benefitted.

My brochure was almost ready.

I just had to write the offer - the service and the price.

Then that was followed by testimonials from past clients.

I then converted the brochure into a website.

How can you use this to build your business?

👉 Identify the service/product you want to sell and who will be a potential customer (I wanted to sell ESOPs services and knew potentially startup founders may buy)

👉 Get a persona created

👉 Now based on the goals, challenges, pains and aspirations of the persona, write down a journey that describes the person facing a challenge that you are ready to solve

👉 Now describe in the same story format how you solve the problem

👉 Make sure there is a happy ending

👉 Provide essential information, such as testimonials, price, your team, other factors like ratings etc

You got your brochure text.

Give it to a designer. Or use Canva or some AI tool to get it made. Canva has brilliant templates.

You can also use something like Wix or Wordpress or Notion to build the website.

Basically, you can go from an idea to launching the website within a day or two if you put your mind to it.

You don’t need capital to start a consulting business

You don’t need capital to start a consultancy; It is only a limiting belief. And limiting beliefs stop you from fulfilling your destiny.

In fact, it was this very same limiting belief that my family and environment had injected into me: that I needed capital to start a business.

Sure you need capital to start a factory, a brokerage, or a paan shop. Even to be a farmer you need land and capital. But you do not need any capital to start a services business. Nobody told me this when I was younger!

They said: We are poor, we don’t have capital. So we have to study hard and get a job. That’s our only option. We are destined for this. My co-founder, Harsh Jain, had a similar experience. Here’s what he has to say about this:

Until I was about 20, I had never even considered starting a business. I barely got enough education loans to cover my college tuition. But then, my university (a top National Law university) doubled the fees when I had just joined my second year.

We had no property to mortgage, so we could not get more loans for a lack of collateral. For some time, it looked like I would have to drop out of college if I couldn’t come up with the money. So I realised my only option was to start earning.

I turned to freelance work. Within a year, I was earning more than my parents put together. Yet, I could not believe I could start a business. The thought did not even enter my mind, because I had no CAPITAL after all.

But then something happened. A guy in my senior batch started an LPO – a legal process outsourcing company. He posted photos on Facebook of his new office – he had a client in America. He had a few employees. I was in awe. So I made a trip to his room in the boys’ hostel to ask how much capital he needed to do this.

He said: zero. He actually made a 0 with his index finger and thumb and showed me a 0! He did not explain how that was possible. But I got it.
