99% of businesses in any of the developed countries are small businesses and startups, which need to optimise their costs and cannot access international remote workers/consultants affordably.
There are 33.2 million small businesses as per the US Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy, 1.2 million in Canada and 5.5 million in the UK.

Irrespective of sector, the problems they face are common – mostly around sales, marketing, distribution, delivery, ops, automation, finance, building high-powered teams etc.
These fast-growing startups need cost-effective offshore workers and services, expertise and advice, to survive, compete and succeed against large corporations which already have access to BPOs that allow them to cut costs massively.
However, these businesses do not have access to high-quality remote workers and have no clue how they can effectively offshore their work to remote workers.

This is where you come in.
What is the part of their business that you can help to either automate or offshore? Is it product development? If you are an engineer, writer, video editor, architect, QA tester etc, this is a great area for you.
Is it marketing? Then you better have skills around social media, blogging, newsletter writing, ghost-writing, running ads, lead generation, producing videos, email campaigns etc.
Is it sales or ops? I hope you can take leads and convert them into paying customers through meetings, calls, emails or whatever it takes.
Other functions like HR, recruitment, law, finance, bookkeeping, tax or compliances? If you are providing such services to Indian clients, you have to learn relevant local skills for the US or whichever market you target, but you should be able to do that in 6 months!
Of course, we recommend that you use your existing skills, and definitely first target similar companies as you are catering to or working for in India, but who are located in the US or UK so that you can benefit from the cost arbitrage.
Need a roadmap on how to do this❓
We can help you with that. Simply attend our free bootcamp on "Turbocharge your Career: Start a consulting business or startup and work with US Clients using AI tools", December 9th, 10th from 12 pm - 3 pm & December 12th, 6.00pm - 9.00pm.

I wasted my time, why should you?
Many of you may recall a video that went viral In June this year – of a senior executive with a private bank, screaming abuse at his teammates and humiliating them in front of their colleagues on a video call.
While the video triggered some of the worst memories of my life as a salaried employee of India Inc, it also reminded me exactly why I decided to stop looking for a job and become a freelancer in 2020.

👉🏻 Toxic bosses who feel threatened by more competent junior colleagues
👉🏻 Daily insecurities
👉🏻 Constant humiliation
👉🏻 Zero growth opportunities even after a decade of dedicated service No respect for experience or integrity

These were some of the major reasons I decided enough was enough when, at the height of the Covid lockdown, some of my colleagues and I lost our jobs overnight, apparently because of ‘cost cutting’, which we later found out was a lie.
Our reporting manager merely wanted to use Covid as an excuse to get rid of some of us.
The experience taught me how unstable and insecure even the most apparently secure job could be.
And how I was at the mercy of a few people who could decide my fate from a distance, without taking my hard work, loyalty, or expertise into account.
So I decided to be my own boss. Even though I was a single parent, and had no previous experience of freelancing.
I knew I was good at what I did, and I knew I could do it far better without someone constantly breathing down my neck.
So I launched my career as a freelance writer and consultant.

Yes, the journey had its ups and downs. When I started out, I wasn’t sure what kind of work would come my way.
There was no assured salary at the end of the month.
There were months when I received virtually no work. I had to learn how to manage my money so that one ‘dry’ month didn’t mean I couldn’t put food on the table.
Just over three years down the line, I can tell you this:
👉 I am making more money than I ever made as a salaried employee
👉 I am working from the peace of my home
👉 I have flexible working hours
👉 I have a steady stream of work that I have chosen to do
👉 I can refuse work that I don’t want to do
👉 I don’t have to deal with insecure bosses who feel they must put me down in order to raise themselves up
Today, my only regret is that I waited nearly a decade and a half before deciding to go solo. What a waste.
How many of you can say that?

Is AI a threat to me❓
In the past six months or so, many people have told me that my livelihood is under threat from AI or artificial intelligence, that AI tools can write what I write in a fraction of the time that it takes me.
Initially, such talk made me nervous. Until I tried using some of the tools myself.
Do you know what I found?
Given the right prompts, some AI tools can imitate some of the most famous writers in the world, from Shakespeare to Rushdie.
But it is I who has to instruct it to produce the content that I want to see. And unless my instructions are pinpoint, AI will not give me what I want.
In other words, I have to know the tool inside out. And supervise it so it doesn’t produce rubbish.
I also found that AI tools can be excellent research assistants, but the final output has to be mine. So they will only enhance and speed up my work, not take it away!

In the same way, once you begin actually knowing and using AI-powered tools, you will find what a blessing they can be for a freelance consultant, no matter which area of work you choose.
I know many of you are in the position I was in three years ago, and that first step of discarding a known way of life can be the biggest challenge of all.
But just because I am used to a certain way of life does not mean it is the best life I can live.
Which is why I would love to see more and more people begin their own freelancing journeys.
I want them to discover the joys of an enriching, empowered career path. To be free of toxicity and negativity, and make meaningful contributions to the people or companies they work with.
That is also why I feel you must attend SkillArbitrage’s free, live only, online bootcamp to discuss how to ‘Turbocharge your career: Start a consulting business or startup and work with US clients using AI tools’.

15 years’+ experience woman who worked in an MNC got a USD 10K+ contract from a Philippines-based client
Gayatri Vathsan was working as an instructional designer and writer for 15 years in MNCs and earning around 12-13 LPA.
In 2016, she started freelancing but was largely working with Indian clients.
Her earnings had significantly dipped, but they rose sharply after August 2023, when she started learning how to pursue international remote work.

In just 1 month, she received an invite for a job on her Upwork profile from a Philippines-based AI company from Scale AI, which has now given her an annual project of USD 10K!
She only needs to work for 2 hours per day on the side. In fact, she has already secured 4 full-time remote job offers through LinkedIn, all of which pay more than her last job!
She is now building her brand further and has received offers from book publishers as well to write several books.

Professional with 12 years’+ experience who lost her job in 2022 is now earning more than 60K per month by working part-time from home:
Munmun Kundu, lives in Kolkata with her family and has 12 years’ experience working in a business development role, but lost her job in July 2022 as her employer wrapped up India operations.
She found 2 domestic opportunities in 1 year, but they were paying her very little, yet asking her to work 6 days - so she started pitching to international clients with our guidance in August 2023.
She sent about 6-7 proposals, and got her first client in the second month itself - this is an AI startup based in the UK which has seed funding. (She uses AI to generate highly effective proposals and offers).

She was offered a 40 hours/week commitment, but could only commit for 20 hrs/week - which her client gladly accepted, and she works 5-6 hrs/day, 5 days a week.
Her remuneration will be revised every 3 months. She also receives at least 1 invitation from a client on Upwork without even having to write proposals now!
Exciting times are ahead for her.
If you want, you can do this too.

Abhishek Katta graduated as a computer science programmer from Mumbai in 2021, but did not apply for a domestic 9-5 job as he wanted to work as a freelancer.
He tried on his own, but was not very successful, until he started pitching to international clients and upgrading his freelance profile after taking professional assistance from Skill Arbitrage in August 2023.

Since September, he has been working on video editing, social media, graphic design and virtual assistant services for his clients and has worked with 6 clients based in India, US and UK. One Spain-based client is in the pipeline.
He is using AI extensively to speed up his output - tools like Canva Pro, Adobe Firefly, Voice AI, Narakeet (for text to speech), Midjourney, etc. apart from ChatGPT.
He is closing in on his first 500 dollars in just 2 months, and his journey is accelerating now. He is gunning for INR 1 lakh per month.
There are days on which he earned INR 10K in one night of work!
Still don’t believe that it is possible?
