Komal Shah
Komal has been working remotely for almost six years now, and is Co-Founder and Chief Knowledge Officer at SkillArbitrage.
Before she joined us, Komal worked in three countries, led an IPO, and headed international legal teams.
But in 2016, she relocated to Mumbai with a three-year-old daughter and did not want to travel two hours every day in the notorious Mumbai traffic to a downtown law firm.
She would rather spend those hours with her daughter. At the same time, she did not want to give up on work either.

Enter remote work, which has given her the perfect work-life balance and saved her precious time and energy, which she has devoted to her family and herself.
By eliminating the need for travel, Komal feels she has the time and opportunity to grow both professionally and personally.
She still works 12 hours a day, and runs a team that spans across several countries, with her major clients based in Singapore, Dubai, UK and California.

Priyanka Karwa
Priyanka was the first remote employee to join us as we were scaling our startup in 2015.
Having shifted to Mumbai post-marriage, Priyanka’s conservative family background meant that while she could step outside the home to work, she still had to fulfil all her family responsibilities. And she was finding it difficult to balance the two worlds.
After the birth of her first child, she herself did not want to leave the baby with paid caregivers. But as a workaholic, she also felt a deep need for a professional identity.
When she connected with us, she explained that she was only looking for part-time remote work since her baby needed full-time care, so she joined as a customer care executive.

Sunayani Ganguly
A veteran of the advertising industry, Sunayani was no stranger to the everyday misogyny of a male-dominated profession. So much so that some of her workplaces didn’t even have separate washrooms for women.
Having worked for some of the biggest names in Indian advertising, Sunayani was also frustrated by what she saw as the inherent ageism of the industry, which makes a woman feel ‘old’ at 40, while her male colleague of the same age is probably seen as ‘experienced’.
Moreover, she also experienced the ‘gender pay gap’ which is prevalent in almost every country in the world, when she discovered that a junior male colleague whom she was asked to mentor was paid the same salary as her.

Incidentally, Oxfam’s ‘India Discrimination Report 2022’ pays special attention to the gender pay gap, revealing that women face bias both in recruitment and pay across the country.
Remote work has made her gender irrelevant, as far as Sunayani is concerned. Her worth is now measured solely by the work she does as Head of the Marketing Content team.
Working remotely, she feels great about not having to use make-up, or to care what clothes she wears. Only the value she creates counts!
While producing daily marketing content such as ads and other communication, she feels the flexible work schedule also leaves her with time to pursue her passion for creative writing and poetry.

Yajnaseni Chakraborty
An experienced media professional and author who joined us in 2022, Yajnaseni was a regional editor with a reputable national media house when she lost her job overnight at the height of the pandemic.
Panic-stricken, the single mother realised she wouldn’t readily find another job, given the widespread freeze on recruitments thanks to the pandemic. So she took the freelance route and began working from home, though she wasn’t sure if she would find steady work since she had no guidance in this area.
By the time she joined us, however, working from home had become the new normal for her, as it had for most of the world, and she fits perfectly into our remote work culture as Senior Content Writer for the Marketing team, a role which helps her indulge her passion for writing.

As mentioned above, remote work gives you the FREEDOM you were always seeking.
FREEDOM from commuting
FREEDOM from leaving your children alone or with a paid help at home
FREEDOM from 9-5 drudgery
FREEDOM from office cubicles and office politics
FREEDOM from choosing between family and work
FREEDOM from being limited by a small local job market – because remotely you can work with the entire world
FREEDOM from low pay and toxic bosses
Remote work has given control back to women.
Men will never understand what a game changer remote work has been for women.
If you ask our colleagues, you will find that none of them want to go back to a brick and mortar workplace, because they can no longer be comfortable in that limiting environment.
They have got used to the flexibility and comfort of remote work, and see no reason to return to their earlier routines.
Worldwide, thanks to the pandemic, remote work is here to stay.
According to this Times of India article (https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/blogs/voices/whats-the-future-of-remote-work-in-2023/), “In 2023, the remote work landscape is expected to look much different... With the rise of virtual reality, 5G technology, and AI-powered software, professionals around the world will benefit from enhanced connectivity, improved security, and greater flexibility when it comes to working from home.”
In our next message, we will be talking about international remote work opportunities and how you can get access to them, according to your educational and professional backgrounds and skill sets.
And we will actually teach you the skills and give you a roadmap for the future at our bootcamp, setting you up for a high-income, high-growth career.

My first trip to the Maldives was planned for March-April 2020, but it got cancelled.
Just one week before our departure, India was under lockdown, and my trip was deferred to 6 months later.
However, in 3 months, I received an email from the airline - my flight to Maldives was cancelled and I got a full refund. Our trip appeared to be jinxed.
It was a time of high anxiety at work - people around were losing jobs, lawyers finding it hard to get new clients, existing clients were deferring payments, courts were shut and hiring had slowed down.
We were working extra hard to support our students to find opportunities amidst this uncertainty.

A couple of months later, Ramanuj was struck by a brainwave to start training Indians to work remotely for international clients.
I got busier as we built entirely new support systems and programs from scratch, and the dream of visiting our dream destination became bleak and faded from my memory.
3 years later, in 2023, after we have enabled more than 25K learners to secure international remote work, jobs and internships, I am here with a resolve.
As I fulfil my own dream with my wife, I dream for India and people of other developing countries.
Thanks to the boon of remote work, lakhs of Indians will fulfil these dreams next. Some of our learners have already started supporting their families with resources, even buying cars and homes.

I dream of a day when we fulfil “Project Virtual Bangalore”, a mission where 1 million remote freelancers from small towns and cities are working remotely for international clients, employing millions of others who are similarly placed in respectful remote jobs.
Instead of one city, and creating congestion there, this will enable the economies of many tier-2 and 3 cities across the country.
This wave of remote employment will create a new kind of wealth, freedom and empowerment amongst our country’s people.
India will earn more forex from remote workers than our total import bills.
India will be the #1 destination to support world-class remote service talent to power any global business.
Our learners will have the opportunity to spend quality time with their families from such beautiful locations and feel safe and grateful to the universe - and money will not be an obstacle.
Many learners have embarked on this mission with us, and we are building our capacities further to support them.
Opportunity is knocking on the door. Our time is coming.
India is learning, India is earning.
If you are interested in knowing how you can tap into such opportunities, I invite you to attend a FREE live online bootcamp on Nov 18, Nov 19, Nov 20, 2023, 10.30 AM to 01.30 PM.

I quit my job after marriage. Can I work from home now?
It is a well known fact that women’s employment rates increased sharply during World War I (1914-18), from about 23% in 1914 to approx. 40% in 1918.
As a result, alongside managing the home, women began taking up tasks that had traditionally been performed by men.
With the rapid and worldwide growth of remote work and artificial intelligence (AI) driven jobs in the last few years, women in the 21st century may be poised for their very own WWI moment.
And the best part is, you don’t have to be a software engineer, data scientist or lawyer to benefit from international remote work. The stage is huge, you just need to play your part.

Skill Arbitrage - Remote Work for Women
If you are thinking that is it possible for you as a woman to get some remote opportunities or jobs, here is the answer. Let me share the experience in the words of one of our students, Sushmitha Arukalla, who lives in Hyderabad:
I am 2013 B.Tech grad of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering and Technology, and was working as a senior cabin crew at SpiceJet for more than six years till October 2020.
I used to earn about INR 1 lakh p.m. as a senior cabin crew at SpiceJet. I am also a soft skills trainer.
I had worked at SpiceJet for 6.5 years, and then I got married and the pandemic struck.
I had to take a break in my career and stop working.
However, soon afterwards, I was eager to restart work and tried to look for opportunities, but it was very difficult.
I wanted a work-from-home job as that would enable me to take care of my family as well.
I have attended 50-100 seminars looking for different career options but finally discovered a viable opportunity at a free bootcamp conducted by SkillArbitrage, where they explained how one can do remote freelance work for international clients and even get full-time or part-time jobs.
