finished watching for the first time

and now the post series depression is here to eat me alive.. so many thoughts i cannot even gather thrm all.. but a few things for sure.. i LOVED Desmond! he has to be my favorite.. i was so annoyed by so many of them throughout the series but at the end just can't help but think how much they all grew in their character and I'll miss them all quite a lot.. i did not like jack till most of S6.. but then towards the end he kind of redeemed himself for me.. can't say the same about kate tho.. still not a fan.. i cannot believe how much i despised Ben when we started and how it turned around completely as i watched more and more of him.. i almost felt sad and pity for him.. i wish he moved on with the others too.. the ending was just bittersweet.. they got to be happy together only after dying.. that's just sad.. but atleast they were happy and together.. ah i miss it all already.. i will give myself some time before i decide its time for a rewatch..

Are there different edits for the season finales of Lost?

For context, I’ve been watching Lost along with a reactor since S3 to try a new experience. I overlay the episode video while putting the reactor’s audio and video in the corner, but I’ve started noticing some differences on the season finale.

For the record, I’m watching Lost on Disney+. I'm currently on the S5 finale, and I noticed a lot of cuts between my version and the reactor's version. I can't recall the specific differences in the S3 and S4 finales, but I noticed them because our streams were out of sync. I thought those parts weren't that important at the time.

However, while watching the first part of the S5 finale, I got really confused. In the reaction video, there’s a scene where Sawyer, Kate, and Juliet meet Bernard and Rose and ask where they've been for the past three years, ending with Rose explaining that they retired. There was also a flashback showing Locke and Jacob when Locke falls out of the window. Neither of these scenes showed up on Disney+. Why is this happening?

First intro between Jacob and the MIB

First off I just want to say that I love the actors they choose for their characters!!! They did a phenomenal job! Every time I rewatch and we see their meeting on the beach and MIB says to Jacob “do you have any idea how badly I want to kill you!?” First thought is HOLY SHIT!!!! This is intense!!!!Crazy right!? And my second thought is with the wrong actors or poor directing this scene could be so corny and lame or look like a joke! Anyone else ever think about it like that?
side bar I need to watch Bosch!!!!

Exposé - Vincent

On another rewatch and just MAYBE caught something for the first time. When Nikki and Paulo are paralyzed (thought to be dead) under the blanket on the beach, Vincent pulls it off. Do you think he knew/could sense they weren’t dead?

Or am I desperate to find something new in a rewatch lol.,

Is there anyone here who has Ethan as one of their favorite characters / as their favorite character? I always thought I was the only one who liked him, but whenever I told someone that Ethan was on my list of favorite Lost characters, everyone would say I was a freak haha, loool

Another rewatch done

Every time I rewatch the show I feel like I should write another massive essay on everything it means to me. Maybe I will again some time but I think it’s clear to me know that everyone who gets it knows it. I think this is my 8th rewatch, I’ve lost count (pun!) since I watched it as a kid a good few times but I have no way of knowing exactly. This show has been such a huge part of my entire life. In fact, my due date for being born was 22/04/2004! I ended up being born 4 days before, but even that is relevant in that it’s the first number in the sequence! I just feel like the show is so deeply apart of me at this point that I struggle to put it into words. It’s such a specific set of so many feelings and comforts that I get, every single time. Whenever I rewatch the show on my box set, I always watch all of the Bonus Features as well. The show and story itself have endless meaning for me, but it’s so much more enhanced seeing the sheer love and care put in by all the people who worked on it. There are so few pieces of film or TV that have so much dedication and genuine love behind its creation from people involved in every manner. I know it’s always said, but Lost is just so special. I can’t explain how deeply spiritual and meaningful it is to me. It is the only TV show that can create such a powerful image of life, death, pain, love, mystery, mythology, and so much more. I just cannot believe that this show got made. I really would not be who I am without it. This rewatch, I finally got to watch it with my partner. I’ve been wanting to share Lost with someone since I was little, and so seeing that she loved the show made me feel so happy. Indeed, on this rewatch, I’ve found myself accepting far more personal criticisms of the show! And yet, I love it more than ever. Every single rewatch shows me a new manner of enjoying the show, and I still pick up on new things and realise things in a new way. I think for a while, when I was younger, I tried to see the show as being totally perfect. Of course, the show does have a lot of issues! But the strengths of the show are just so vast and unbelievably moving, that it feels perfect. Not flawless or without issue, but perfect in the sense that it creates a perfect feeling within me, moreso than ever. For my next rewatch I might even try Lost Circle to see the show from a whole new angle. It might be a while before I rewatch the show as well. I’ve been watching it yearly for a good bit now, and I think I might let myself miss it and long for it for just a year or two. Because that feeling of coming back to it (which I’ve had before after big gaps) is just something I can’t explain. I cannot wait to come back to the show and experience it all again. It means more and more to me every time, and I feel such a huge and deep connection to it as a person on such an increasing basis. This show is perfect in how it makes me feel. It will always be apart of me, and it looks like I just couldn’t help writing an essay about it! Whether I put it into words or not, the people who know it get it, and that’s as simple as that. It’s not just me who has this connection to the show, I am not special of it. Countless people feel this show on the same level I do, and that enhances it so much more. The fact that other people out there feel this way about it is in itself so special, and it makes me feel so comforted. I love Lost, and I know you do too.

Is Desmond the strongest?

I am watching S4 E5. The way Desmond says "I won't call you for eight years. December 24, 2004". That commitment in that moment would have taken enormous strength even when he knew that he might just jump back onto the boat the next moment - because if I were there, I would have gone crazy first and then suspected a "what if I never jump back ever again" and wouldn't dare saying that.

PS: I kinda am infected by this person and his love towards penny.

Painting Lost on white nike shoes need help choosing a moment

Hey guys. There is a person in my country who is very known to be a good painter on shoes.
I want to order from him a painting on my Nike Air force 1. What moment from lost or view from Lost do you think is the most beautiful and that summarizes the show in a way that will fit to be painted on a shoe. I thought about the ending of the show. Do you have any good ideas? Thank you

16 years later I have realised how wrong I was about this show

I'm sure this is probably the most common topic in here but I've just finished my first rewatch since it originally aired, so I've gotta get it off my chest.

So, like many, I completely misunderstood the ending of Lost when it first aired and for many years I considered the series one of the most disappointing in recent memory due to the final season and particularly the series finale. However, on watching Drew Gooden's breakdown of the show I realised how wrong I was, so decided to give it a rewatch and wow. Absolute cinema is an understatement. It's incredible how they were able to satisfyingly payoff so many seemingly random story threads. The series has a reputation for setting up lots without giving answers, which i find completely unfair. Off the top of my head, I can't think of many, although I'm sure there will be some I'm missing.

For many years, I misunderstood the church scene. I thought they had all died on the plane and what happened on the island wasn't real, but that's not the case at all. Understanding that the flash-sideways was merely the characters in purgatory post-death (not from the plane crash), made it so much more satisfying and not at all a time waste like I initially felt. In-fact, the Lost series finale is one of the greatest I've ever seen. It's beautiful. And seeing the reaction of the characters when they realised the truth had me in tears throughout. I'm so glad nobody was there to see me ugly crying lmao. All of the tragic deaths we had encountered came full circle. The pain we felt allowed us to feel such emotion when they were reunited. I get teary just thinking of Sawyer and Juliet.

It was sad to see Ben not ready to move on, but it was understandable. He's had quite the journey. Everyone got the ending they deserved.

I'm so happy, yet so sad it's over. I wasn't ready to let go. I didn't want it to end, but like our beloved characters, I am at peace and just grateful for the time we had together.

Currently rewatching and all I can think about is how Lost wouldnt be popular on Reddit if it aired today

Im watching season 1 now and I love it, the characters are great and interesting. Flashbacks work really well, excellent at telling compelling stories with minimal time. Mysteries are intriguing and looming. I think every character works and I can sympathize with each

So why wouldnt it work today? Coming from the From subreddit, i can easily see how everyone would be screaming "Filler episode!! Nothing happens!! Boring, they just talk!!" after every episode of Lost. And those guys are pretty stupid, From is action packed, and its drama is compelling as well

When I watched Lost the first time, I was about 14-15 when it came out, the mystery was the most interesting part to me. Now, its currently my second rewatch, and the characters are whats doing it for me

I dont really know the point of my post, maybe its just to reflect that the community is the worst part of many shows? The Severance people are pretty cool most of the time, Widows Bays subreddit is fun, but the people on From are pretty toxic. So far Ive only had good experiences with the Lost subreddit

The old comments about the ending of Lost are startling.

Here’s the thing:

No one is obligated to love the *Lost* finale; that said, it is unacceptable to see judgmental comments based on falsehoods (such as claims that everyone was dead or that it was all just a dream).

But the problem goes deeper: back when the show was at its peak, people didn't have smartphones or as many distractions as they do today, yet many still held the opinion I mentioned above.

Just imagine *today*—with smartphones and all the technological distractions people have—how will viewers actually understand the show?

In short, my point is: we didn't have as many distractions back then, and those were the opinions on *Lost*; just imagine what it would be like today.

i think Desmond's arc was the best

ever since i finished watching Lost yesterday, i cannot stop thinking about Desmond and "see you in another life, brother".. i loved all eps that were focused on him.. his and penny's story felt like the constant of the show.. he really felt like the key to a smooth flow between the survival show Lost, the sci-fi Lost, the mythical/magical Lost and ofcoursethe afterlife.. i loved him so much.. Definitely the GOAT!

Finale question on Hulu.

Hulu has the first and second part of the finale as episode 17 and 18, but also has the unedited finale as episode 19. I'm guessing I should skip 17 and 18 and watch the unedited version right? Thank you!

Sawyer’s S6 Episode

At the beginning of the show, we learn Sawyers defining characteristic is that he’s consumed by unresolved grief, which he’s channeled into a lifelong quest for revenge.

I’ve always felt that how Sawyer actually feels about his parents was an unexplored avenue of the show. Now Anthony Cooper is probably the worst person in the show. However, I will grant him that he has a point in his confrontation with Sawyer - he may have conned them, but Cooper didn’t make Sawyers parents do anything. Sawyers mother chose to have an affair and give away all their money, and Sawyers dad choice to react to that with a murder-suicide.

The utility of killing Juliet is that it raises a really interesting question in regards to Sawyer - after all his development, how does he now respond to once again being overwhelmed with grief, and having an easy target to project that onto (Jack). Rather than raising the idea that Sawyer wants to kill Jack in 6x01, only to immediately drop it 20 minutes later, I think Sawyers desire to kill Jack should remain through to this episode.

Instead of being sent on a “recon” mission to Widmore by Locke, Sawyer is instead sent to the Jack/Hurley/Sun camp to convince them to join Locke (as Locke’s main objective is to unite all the candidates to kill them). However, Sawyer says he’s got no plans to bring Jack with him, with Locke telling him “it’s your choice”.

Sawyer approaches Jack in the woods who is alone chopping firewood. In a parallel to one of Losts best and most iconic scenes, Sawyer chooses to “let go”, and instead once again give Jack emotional catharsis, telling him it’s not his fault that Juliet died. She made her own choices.

In the flash-sideways, I’d have the same original setup of Sawyer being a cop who’s hunting Cooper, but instead of the weird romance thing with Charlotte (which does absolutely nothing with Sawyers character), he instead is successful in tracking down Cooper.

However, he arrives at the nursing home to find that Cooper is an unresponsive vegetable. After all this time, Sawyer realises he has no one left to blame and there’s no possibility of finding “justice/vengeance”. This forces him to finally accept the fact that both of his parents (to differing degrees) made bad choices that weren’t in his best wishes, and they were responsible for their own actions.

Instead of the nothing-burger of the original episode that does nothing with Sawyer emotionally (Juliette literally doesn’t even get mentioned in an episode set like 4 days after he death), we should have had a story that comes full circle and completes his character arc.

Thoughts?
