In Poland, a book was recently published by journalist Zbigniew Parafianowicz about the "behind the scenes" of the first months of the full-scale Russian invasion. The author spoke to government officials and the military (on anonymous terms), and here is what he has to say:

Yes, you've heard that the US was confident that Kyiv would fall in 3 days. The journalist writes that Jake Sullivan even argued about it with Polish presidential secretary Jakub Kumoch, who was convinced of a Ukrainian victory. Washington finally agreed to hand over the tanks after a meeting between Biden and Duda.

But the situation with the fighter jets was "not so clear". Then the Poles decided to act on their own. They disassembled 10 MiG-29s and left them in a wooded area near the border. Kyiv was informed about the "orphan" parts, which were quickly collected by our military. This happened several months before the official handover of the aircraft by the international coalition.

Polish special services ensured the safety of Ukrainian delegates participating in the negotiations in Belarus (March 2022). They accompanied them in helicopters, which landed on the Belarusian territory and took them out after their work. By coincidence, the Polish military was also present at the Brovary site when the full-scale war broke out. They stayed a little longer and collected information.

The book describes how the Poles used specially created private companies to bypass the bureaucracy in the transfer of military goods, and why Polish-Ukrainian relations at the governmental level blossomed last year and then began to "wither". By the way, the moment with the missile that fell in the Polish village of Przewodów is mentioned here.
