Tarun Tejpal, the former editor-in-chief of Tehelka, surrendered before a Goa court on Monday in connection with a 2013 sexual assault case and will now serve a 10-year rigorous imprisonment sentence.

Tejpal was sent to Central Jail at Colvale in North Goa to begin serving his sentence after he surrendered before the Additional Sessions Court at Mapusa.

Law enforcement authorities have seized more than 362 metric tonne of Pakistan-origin dry dates and thwarted attempts to circumvent India's prohibition on imports from the neighbouring country, the finance ministry said on Monday, 14 September.

Pakistan has increased the bounty announced on Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, among the top perpetrators of terrorist acts in India, to 7 million rupees. The reward for information leading to his arrest has been raised from PKR 20 lakh to PKR 70 lakh.
