Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an Israel-US joint strike, will be buried in the city of Mashhad, the Fars news agency said.

Iran announced a 40-day period of mourning over the loss. Iran's second-largest city and a popular pilgrimage site, Mashhad is home to a population of 3.5 to 5.4 million people.
