#MintCharts | India announced ₹11.3 trillion worth of new projects across the country during the January-March quarter, two times higher than the figure in the December quarter, provisional data from the project-tracking database of the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) showed.

However, the overall value of new projects for the fiscal year 2023-24 experienced a decline of nearly 31%, following two consecutive years of substantial growth.

#MintCharts | The share of corporates with poor debt-servicing capabilities (i.e. operating profit less than interest outgo) is close to the lowest level in almost a decade, found a study of around 3,000 listed companies by India Ratings and Research.

Around 12% of large businesses (annual revenue over ₹500 crore) were found to be stressed in the December-ended quarter, down from a peak of 39% in Q1 FY21.

Among mid-sized businesses, the share improved from 47% to 20%, while for emerging ones, it fell from 44% to 28%, the study shows.
