As of 31 March, the total outstanding term deposits with banks in rural India contracted by 1.05% to ₹6.99 trillion from a year earlier. This is the first time in eight years that term deposits in rural India have contracted.

Among the Indian varsities, IIT Ropar and IIT Indore were the best from India. While IIT Ropar was assigned global rank of 63 in the world, IIT Indore was placed at 76th positions.

Mahatma Gandhi University was ranked 142 in its debut and IIT Gandhi Nagar was ranked 155 in the world.

Since the onset of the second wave about three months ago, one or more of the 10 states leading in new cases had been reporting an increase in weekly deaths.


Last week was the first time that all 10 states reported a decline in weekly deaths. On 23 June, the seven-day average of all-India reported deaths was 1,440.

This is down 68% from the peak of 4,529 on 18 May.

A week ago, this number was 2,329.
