A quick and dirty demo of the Ravelights multi layered music reaction mode.

It uses both spectrum and decibel detection with a cocktail of custom math and processing, which took us a few years to get right. It still has some tuning to go, but once it’s finished, it will be a one of a kind.

In V2, we upgraded the CPU in the circuit board for the Ravelights. We now use two cores, one to process live data from the microphone, and the other one to manage and interpret it. The V2 Ravelight CPU is about 500 times faster than V1 lol. We also have a lot more ram in this chip, which lets us store lots of audio data in something called a ring buffer, so the Ravelight is able to calibrate itself to loud and quiet environments on it’s own, pretty quickly. So it can respond to both whispering and a loud rave the same way.

We’ll share a blog post in the future that goes in depth into the engineering and math behind it, just for fun.

Getting ready to film our Kickstarter video very soon! Been working on it for a few months with some very smart people. It’s going to be more of a short story and there will be furries in it, in mainstream Kickstarter.
