Let me parent you 2.0 for teens and young adults (Take it with agrain of salt cause I don't pretend to know what's best for you but these are what I learned)💜
1. Being misunderstood is not all that bad.(when no one gets you, you're free to be whoever you want)
2. Never shrink to belong.
3. Being cool is a myth. We're all grossly uncool.
4. Have crushes. But don't let them crush your dreams.
5. Feed your mind what's best. Feed your soul what's nourishing.
6. Stay away from radical figures on the internet.
7. Know what to rebel against. Rebel by non conformity, by pursuing your dreams, by befriending the outcasts, by daring to be labelled the teacher's pet. Not by being an asshole!
8. Sleep like the dead
9. Dabble in different things open-mindedly
10. Make acquaintances but don't commit to friendships too early as school starts. You might end up in the wrong friend group.
11. Read books that challenge you.
12. Work on your self reliance and emotional intelligence. It can save you from fumbling major life decisions.

Stephen King says writing is self-hypnosis. To me, writing is like self-amputation. Agonizingly parting ways with your thoughts after the immense effort of trying to make sense of them. Once in a while,
a classroom alive with chatter gets quiet abruptly, then all you hear is the scratching of pencils and pens against paper with the occasional rustle of turning pages.
It hits you, then...consciousness.
Moments like that make me ache with bittersweet feelings.
Like when I'm home alone and sunlight seeps into my living room uninvited; defying me.
Like how the moonlight has a life of its own, scaring me.
Like a good fairytale that sends chills up your soul.
Like the distant echoes of a church bell and the chants that follow.
Like art and polaroids of frozen time.
It's all I think about during my long commutes to school; hyper aware, melting into the window-seat as the wind brings warped memories. Cold air with a hint of rot, courtesy of a city buzzing with life.
So I believe. Against my 'better' judgement.

People are saying it's not Wuthering Heights, it's "Wuthering Heights" (in quotations so that we wouldn't take it as a direct adaptation). Screw that! As if they're not marketing it as an adaptation! I hate that I'm enraged by this cause rage is what sells the film.

Allowing myself to enjoy life doesn't have to be grand. It could be the simple act of decorating my room, which currently looks like a tomb. I've never let myself feel too comfortable in my own room, because it won't stay mine forever. One symptom of my fear of attachment. But it's also a symptom of my iconophobia. I am afraid of idolizing objects and pictures. For the longest time, half of me even fought against my love for books.
Materialism and consumerism scare me but the other extreme, hyper minimalism and monasticism also scare me.
There has to be a way to balance these.
