Transaction data are linked like links in a chain, grouped into blocks and checked for validity. In the Proof of Work (POW), these are then linked to the previous blockchain. Given that the Proof of Work is a very energy-intensive process, anyone seeking to infiltrate the same with fraudulent purposes would have to bear enormous electricity and hardware costs, which make the effort hardly rewarding.
Moreover, the calculation tasks to be solved demand huge computing capacity. It is precisely this virtually insurmountable cost that hedges transactions. Another approach is Proof of Stake (POS), where the decisive factor is not computing capacity but shares (coins or tokens) in the crypto currency.
LIOcoin makes use of both technologies. The development team analysed the existing technology of two old coins (in terms of market capitalization, among the top 6 old coins). Strengths were adopted and weaknesses (high energy consumption, slow calculation processes) dropped, all whilst keeping the security and fast tradability of the LIOcoin in mind.
The result is our own blockchain technology, which not only meets today's requirements, but is also optimally equipped for the future.

Crypto Markets Keep Seeing Minor Fluctuations, Price Changes Mostly Around One Percent:
Sunday, Oct. 28: crypto markets have seen some minor fluctuations, with most of the top 20 coins by market cap seeing price changes within 1 percent over the past 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.
The total market capitalization has remained hovering below $210 billion over the day.

Ethereum (ETH), the second cryptocurrency by market cap, is up around 0.2 percent over the day and trading at around $204 as of press time. According to CoinMarketCap, the leading altcoin is down around 0.7 percent over the week.
Ripple (XRP) is up 0.2 percent over the past 24 hours and trading at $0.45 at press time. Over a 7 day period, the cryptocurrency has seen almost zero fluctuations, slightly down 0.1 percent.
Recently, Ripple announced that the company has seen its revenues doubled in Q3 over Q2 in 2018, with around $163 million worth of XRP sales in Q3, up from $73.53 million in Q2. On Friday, Oct. 26, Ripple revealed that the company has hired a former senior developer at Google’s new wireless messaging service as vice president of products.
At press time, total market cap amounts to $209 billion, while daily trading volume has remained below the $10 billion threshold.
While most of the top 20 coins by market cap have seen insignificant price changes, IOTA (MIOTA) has seen slightly bigger losses over the day. The altcoin is down around 1.6 percent over the past 24 hours, trading at $0.48 at press time.
ZCash (ZEC) and Dash (DASH) are up more than 1 percent over a 24 hour period, trading at around $123 and $156 respectively.
On Thursday, Oct. 25, major Hong Kong-based crypto exchange OKEx announced they will delist more than 50 trading pairs that had low liquidity and trading volumes.
Also on Thursday, a new commissioner from U.S. financial regulator the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) urged that the fintech field – including crypto and blockchain – should be considered and handled with an “open mind.”

Autobahngesellschaft aus Österreich emittiert ersten Blockchain-Schuldschein von Europa:
Die österreichische Autobahngesellschaft ASFINAG hat in Partnerschaft mit der Erste Group einen Schuldschein über eine Blockchain herausgegeben, so das Unternehmen in einer Pressemitteilung vom 23. Oktober.
Der Gesamtwert des am 22. Oktober über eine Blockchain und damit rein online herausgegebenen Schuldscheindarlehens betrug 20 Millionen Euro. Was die Zuverlässigkeit der Technologie betrifft hatten die Projektpartner keine Bedenken, wie die ASFINAG-Vorstandsdirektoren Klaus Schierhackl und Karin Zipperer zu Protokoll gaben.
“Bei Bau, Betrieb und bei der Bemautung setzen wir ganz selbstverständlich auf Innovation und neue, erfolgversprechende Technologien. Jetzt testen wir auch bei der Finanzierung eine neue Technologie. Wir konnten uns davon überzeugen, dass die Blockchain-Technologie absolut sicher ist und daher sind wir gerne dabei.”
Für die Emission setzte die ASFINAG auf eine von der Erste Group und dem Beratungsunternehmen d-fine gemeinsam entwickelte Blockchain-Plattform auf Basis von Hyperledger Fabric. Wie d-fine in einer Pressemitteilung erläutert, sei dank der neuen Technologie eine Ausfertigung des Darlehensvertrags auf Papier nicht nötig gewesen, “da der Schuldschein, genauso wie die Geschäftslogik, mit Blockchain-Technologie digitalisiert wurde.”
Dank eines von d-fine bereitgestellten Blockchain-Baukastens sei die Entwicklung des Systems bis zur ersten erfolgreichen Transaktion in nur sieben Monaten möglich gewesen.
Laut d-fine eröffnet eine derartige Standardisierung und Digitalisierung von Produkten und Prozessen Unternehmen die Chance, Ineffizienzen und Reibungsverluste abzubauen und gleichzeitig mehr Aufmerksamkeit auf die einzelnen Kundenbedürfnisse zu legen.
“Für Schuldscheindarlehen könnte der verbesserte Marktzugang und die Standardisierung in Zukunft beispielsweise den Weg zu einem liquideren Sekundärmarkt bedeuten”, so das Unternehmen in seiner Mitteilung.
Auch bei der Ausgabe von Staatsanleihen mit Blockchain-Technologie ist Österreich ganz vorne mit dabei. Anfang Oktober war bei einer Emission von Staatsanleihen erstmals ein Blockchain-basierter Beurkundungs-Service im Rahmen einer Bundesanleihenauktion in Österreich eingesetzt worden.
