California just carved Linux out of its age-check law.

AB 1856 passed both houses with zero no votes. If Newsom signs it, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, Arch and other GPL/MIT/BSD/Apache systems skip the Jan 2027 โ€œhow old are you?โ€ prompt at setup. Windows, macOS, iOS and Android stay in.

Open source won because you canโ€™t bolt a state ID gate onto code anyone can fork. Proprietary stacks canโ€™t dodge it.

Free software stays free. The rest collect birthdays.

GrapheneOS may skip the Pixel 11.

Google cut the security feature that stops a huge class of exploits.

ARM memory tagging (MTE) is on Pixel 8, 9, and 10. GrapheneOS uses it across the OS. Pixel 11 appears to drop it.

They added a few upgrades. They removed the one that actually matters after unlock.

GrapheneOS: do not buy a Pixel 11. Stick with 8, 9, or 10. Pixel 11 support is still undecided.

Better hardware is coming on Motorola. That is the next bet.

The EU just labeled ChatGPT a search engine.

Not a chatbot. A Very Large Online Search Engine. Same DSA bucket as Google. Four months to comply. Risk reports, content controls, election rules, kid safety paperwork.

That means more logging. More takedown machinery. More pressure to know who is asking.

Brussels is not building a European search engine. It is putting an American chatbot in a box and calling it sovereignty.

The EU is doing everything but innovating.

Use the Commission flags first.

Atomic Mail is private where Gmail is nosy. It is not invisible.

No phone. No recovery email. No ads mining your inbox. Sign up, get a seed phrase, encrypt on the device. For encrypted mail they claim zero access. That part is real, and it is the whole reason this product exists.

Now the honest part.

They keep logs for 7 days. IPs. SMTP sender and recipient addresses. That is not a no-logs service. Estonia plus GDPR is a better courtroom than Silicon Valley. It is still a courtroom. Closed source. No named public audit. Androidโ€™s Play listing is sloppier than Appleโ€™s โ€œdata not collectedโ€ label. Deliverability has been messy for some people.

So use it like this:

Treat it as a clean alias machine. Ten free aliases. Hide the real address. Encrypt anything that would hurt if leaked.

If you want audited, open-source, IMAP-ready privacy mail, Tuta or a self-hosted email still win. If you want a free second identity that does not demand your phone number, Atomic Mail earns a seat.
What kind of YouTube user are you?
Brave still ships wallet, rewards, Leo, and crypto clutter by default.

They sell Brave Origin for about $60 to strip it.
Linux gets Origin free. Windows and Mac pay.

@oxcipityโ€™s BraveDebloater does the desktop strip with enterprise policies.
Current-user mode. No admin.
Dry-run first. Hash-check the zip. Then -Apply. Backups. Shields stay. Free.

Paying for a cleaner Brave is optional if you can run a script.

Remember 2020.
Brave auto-filled affiliate codes on crypto URLs you typed.
Binance. Coinbase. Ledger. Trezor.
They called it a mistake. The trust dent stayed.

Keep Brave? Strip it.
Want less theater: Vivaldi (privacy focused, no AI push) or Firefox climbing back.

Telegram is dumb
Europe is quietly dumping Microslop.

Not tweets. Actual governments.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ Switzerland
3,000 federal PCs leaving Microsoft 365 for openDesk. Army Cyber Command even faster. Out by Oct 2026.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Schleswig-Holstein
80% of the state already on LibreOffice. Mail off Exchange. Linux incoming. Millions saved.
The template everyone else is copying.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฐ Denmark
Digital Affairs Ministry killing 365 for LibreOffice. Copenhagen + Aarhus already moving.
Sovereignty > subscription.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น Austrian Armed Forces
16,000 workstations. Done. LibreOffice. 2025. They even shipped code back.

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท France
DINUM going Linux. Lyon going OnlyOffice + Linux. Gendarmerie been on GendBuntu for years. Teams getting replaced by Visio.

โš–๏ธ International Criminal Court
Dropped 365 for German openDesk after the sanctions circus.

This is not a trend. This is an exit.
Data stays home. Licenses go to zero. No more US cloud leash.

LibreOffice. Linux. openDesk. Thunderbird. Nextcloud.
The stack is already here.

Microslop is optional now. Governments noticed.

Windows is no longer the default gaming OS. It is the anti-cheat OS.

AMD plus CachyOS or SteamOS already matches it. Sometimes beats it. Less RAM. Better handhelds.

Nvidia still ships the toys to Windows first. That is a contract, not physics.

Proton launches most of Steam. The rest is publishers locking the kernel.

Stop paying idle RAM for a launcher.
Pick AMD. Install Linux. Play.
Apple launched the iPhone Duo.

$2,000 foldable. Passport-sized. Biggest iPhone redesign in years.

And it unlocks with Touch ID in the power button.

Same company that told you Face ID was 1 in a million and Touch ID was 1 in 50,000. Fingerprints were the old, weaker option. Your face was the future.

The hinge would not fit the sermon.

Security was branding. When the glass had to fold, the branding folded first.
