The criminal aspect of the scandal is largely irrelevant outside of this usage. The only interest here is that a financier had extensive connections with a wide variety of the global elite, which should really not be all that surprising. Epstein could reasonably be considered an asset of the US empire, whose major mistake was purchasing a house in Florida as opposed to New York

The reality is that there is in fact a war in the US, not of the government versus the people, but rather a civilizing mission by the city against the countryside that has been met at every opportunity by disrespect, violence, and terror.
