That is, it’s not about the person but rather the idea. To “fight for Western civilization” is not to “defend the traditional family in rural Nebraska”, or whatever, but is to support the American-led, liberal democratic, rules-based world order that represents “Western civilization” in the modern world. This being a much more academic definition as opposed to the vague spiritually third world tribalism that is typically invoked today
