I'm not a paid CCP shill but China is having its moment for tourists now
I swear I'm not a paid CCP shill
But China is having its moment for tourists now, which is good, more travel = more collective understanding of each other
Go visit! In most places you'll be the only one there
And it'll be an adventure again like the first time you went traveling because nobody speaks a single word of English and yes that's kinda exciting
You quickly realize that humans can communicate quite easily without using language and can use your hands and feet to communicate and pointing at things to make yourself understood fine!
And people are generally very curious about tourists and foreigners and will want to help you out in any way
Easily some of the friendliest people I've ever met!

Your priority as a man is to avoid the padel body at all costs
The American College of Cardiology just confirmed this:
Even normal weight people with belly fat (aka the famous "padel body") now have a significantly higher risk at developing heart disease
Modern day food almost guarantees you'll have belly fat by age 40 for most men and women, it's just very difficult to avoid it
Food is ultra processed, calorie dense and it's hard to not eat more calories than you spend, and that fat often goes first to your belly
But belly fat is uniquely dangerous, it literally poisons your body with hormonal disruptors, inflammation and with that increases your risk of heart disease (and even cancer)
So you simply have no other choice now, you have to get shredded! I sure am!

My X revenue hit a new record of about $25,000 this month
🚨 New record!
💰My @X revenue is ~$25,000 this month
$9,307 + $7,032 X ad rev share (28d)
$1,389 X subs revenue (28d)
$4,658 book revenue
$773 merch revenue
=$24,744
This is by far my highest X payout ever, just @X revenue here would be $19,312/mo!
This is for about 73 million views btw
I think it's so high now because they're pivoting it towards Original Content (OC) only
The entire pool of money before was being split over OC creators and people reposting other people's videos/memes/etc
So this is great news for people like me who just shitpost every day about their life and ideas and also people like citizen journalists who create real original content
(including book + merch now as they're directly linked to X and the majority source of their revenue now)

I liked this chart so much I had to recreate it
I flipped the axis so that top right is best (tip by @marckohlbrugge and @daniellockyer)
My chart is based on http://Nomads.com data, which for quality of life includes people actually liking the place, climate, healthcare, schools but also air quality
You can also select [ X ] Only places I've been and it checks your travel history and shows you those, in my case, I've barely been to places in the bottom left (high cost, low quality)
https://nomads.com/best-worst-value-cities
P.S. places at war get a reduced quality of life score on https://Nomads.com as they always have been, doesn't matter who started it, which is why Israel shows as low, without conflict it'd be in the top left (inb4 cancelled)
𝕏 @ThierryBorgeat: https://x.com/ThierryBorgeat/status/2088713999600746527

Oh dudeeee no way!
So me and @theannalux our trip in December last year was:
🇨🇳 Fly into Beijing (we came from Japan)
Stayed in Aman Summer Palace was a cool experience (now ex Aman)
Then after 2 days flew to Chengdu, stayed there a week, very fun city, we also went to see the pandas, and try the best hotpot in the world
Then high speed train to Chongqing, quite a tourist place but cool for a few days, then high speed train back to Chengdu
Then we flew to Shanghai and an AI company guy there kindly drove us too Hangzhou to check the AI companies there, we visited Alibaba AI very interesting
If you wanna see more tourist/nature stuff Guilin is cool (big mountains)
One thing to know is Google Maps is all wrong in China, because they use some GPS encryption for military reasons, so use Amap! And install Alipay, connect your payment card, via Alipay you can use lots of apps like Didi (Uber of China), many of these apps inside Alipay won't work for foreigners outside of it (or not easy)
Also internet can be challenging, I got an eSIM from Airalo for Asia and it worked to go outside the firewall
Also if you go with family maybe helps to find some local fixer or agent, nobody speaks English (but ppl helpful), so sometimes you can have a difficult situation if you have no Chinese speaker with you. Normally I'd not book tourist tours to for ex Chinese Wall but in China I would because it means you get essentially a local fixer/translator
Food can be difficult too but if you get a good hotel you can just eat Western food there. A good China-only hotel is called Niccolo Hotels, very luxurious, clean and actually great prices too
Have fun!!!!

One of the best coffee machines in the world is the Moccamaster
It's fully plastic and they don't sell any non-plastic options in 2026
Shows a complete disconnect with the market or just contempt for their customers
Someone should make metal/steel/glass replacement parts
You can't have hot water running through plastic in 2026 anymore, it's just really a dumb idea

I used to put blueberries in there
Until a few weeks ago
When I discovered that blueberries are some of the most pesticide contaminated things you can eat
They have thin skin and are tiny so they're pesticide bombs
The thicker the fruit the better I learnt: pineapple, papaya, mango, banana, cantaloupe or honeydew or water melon

"Personally, I'm just starting to turn a profit now. If you look at the amount I’ve invested over the last 6 years, I'm in the red for now."
Would he have invested his money 6 years ago in the S&P500 he would have now more than doubled it!
But he's only lost money because he chose to study day trading and technical analysis

🇹🇭 Nomads and expats in Thailand seem to be in the crosshairs of the Thai government and Bank of Thailand this year
Foreigners who have a bank account on a DTV visa are getting them closed, and those trying to open new bank accounts are getting rejected
Also foreigners who own real estate in Thailand through joint ventures with local Thai (a decades long loophole to own real estate where it's actually illegal to own real estate as a foreigner) are now getting forcefully liquidated all over the country

I have data on this
Being without gf (home alone) decreased my recovery by 17%, my sleep by 4% and my resting heart rate by 1%
But it also increased my productivity by 31%
Kind of expected, gf keeps me healthy and if I'm alone I work harder
The more data I collect the more it sticks out though that flying long haul to conferences is the worst thing I can do to my health!

I remember as a PC guy how I bought my first Apple device, a MacBook Pro, in 2013
I bought it because that's what my brother had (a pro VFX guy) and also a lot of people in startups around then switched to MacBooks
Back then Windows had become such a POS to use
I'm starting to feel we're reaching a similar moment with Apple
I just saw @dhh's Omarchy's foundation announcement and this video by @theo is also accurate
Apple has given a consistent big F U to developers for over a decade, but at least their software worked well enough. The last few years that changed and you start seeing really dumb and messy bugs everywhere especially in iOS but also MacOS
As an example every time I open my camera from my iPhone's homescreen to quickly picture somethig that quickly happened (like a plane flying by slow) I miss it because my Camera app goes into a weird blur freeze or just stays black
Just basic software things Apple can't even do anymore
A big reason for this of course, may I say it, is Steve not being there. Steve was obsessed about details. Modern Apple doesn't care about details at all
Developers are just a tiny sliver of society but they are trend setting and if you lose them, there's a good chance the rest of people will move on to other platforms too
Apple should be studying what's happening now because add this to also investing $0 into AI (which people call a "great move" as models go open, I'm really not sure about that) they might not have a moat left
I know for sure if I switch from a MacBook Pro running MacOS to a Dell XPS with Linux that will be a gateway drug for me to also move my iPhone with iOS to some great hardware phone running a great custom minimal Android install
And I never even considered switching before this year!
