The castle itself, a Georgian estate marked by symmetry and the harmonious proportions inspired by Renaissance architecture, plays an important role in the British and Irish history — it was here that many crucial peace negotiations took place during the Northern Ireland conflict.

You see the following notice in an English youth magazine and decide to send your story.
The story must have a title and must include:
• a neighbour
• a dog
Write 200-250 words (the title is included in the word count).
————————————
🤩 Write the title in ALL CAPS — it’s easier than trying to understand which word should be capitalized
🤩 Keep it short and simple
🤩 Typically, a story of 200-250 words should have 4-5 paragraphs. Paragraph 1 should set the tone and explain the story of what is happening.
🤩 In body paragraphs, develop the story. Don’t make the plot too busy: it should have 4-5 main events, including the starting point.
🤩 Pay attention to how direct speech is punctuated. If you don’t remember how to do it properly and the task doesn’t require it, stick to indirect speech.
🤩 The ending should summarise the story. It is recommended to include some sort of moral conclusion as well.

Stories Wanted
Write a story for our magazine. The story must begin with the sentence: Anita had just arrived at her house when she realized she didn't have her keys.
The story must have a title and must include:
• a neighbour
• a dog
Write 200-250 words (the title is included in the word count).

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING SOCIABLE
Anita had just arrived at her house when she realized she didn't have her keys. Moreover, her phone had died, leaving her without any connection to her landlord or a locksmith. Anita was devastated! Her dog Bucky had sensed the owner’s presence and was barking from the inside, but to no avail! Anita couldn’t comfort him through the door.
With no other options, Anita decided to go downstairs to the lobby and find someone who could give her a charger. As she started descending the stairs, she heard another dog start barking. It was higher-pitched and came from downstairs. Soon, a little dog ran up to Anita’s door, and both dogs’ loud barking filled the hallway.
A few moments later, an elderly woman joined Anita in the hallway. It was her neighbour, Mrs. Rocks, who lived two floors below Anita. ‘Hello, dear,’ she said, ‘It seems like you need some help.’ ‘Hello, Mrs. Rocks! Yes, I forgot my keys, and I can’t call my landlord because I don’t have a phone,’ Anita replied.
Fortunately, the kind neighbour knew the man’s number and offered Anita a cup of tea to kill time while they were waiting for him. It turned out that Mrs. Rocks was dogsitting for her grandson and followed his dog upstairs when he started barking. Had it not been for the neighbour’s curious dog, Anita would have been stuck there for much longer!

But then again, when I think about it, there’s a sense in which that picture of us on that first day, huddled together in front of the farmhouse, isn’t so incongruous after all. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

✅ Answer: Hong Kong 🇭🇰
Originally ceded to Britain in 1842 after the First Opium War, this small fishing settlement quickly transformed into one of the Empire’s most important trading and financial centres. Its deep natural harbour and strategic position on the South China Sea made it a gateway between East and West — a cornerstone of Britain’s imperial presence in Asia.
The colony expanded through the Kowloon Peninsula (1860) and the New Territories, which Britain leased for 99 years in 1898. Throughout the 20th century, Hong Kong became a bustling manufacturing hub and a refuge for waves of migrants, especially during periods of unrest in mainland China.
In 1997, following the end of the lease, Hong Kong was officially handed over to China under the “one country, two systems” framework — an arrangement intended to preserve its economic model, legal system, and freedoms for 50 years.
Today, Hong Kong remains one of the world’s most dynamic and recognisable global cities — defined by its skyscraper-studded skyline, fast-paced lifestyle, and unique blend of British colonial heritage and Chinese cultural roots.
Key Symbols:
🌉 Victoria Harbour — the heart of Hong Kong’s identity, framed by one of the most dramatic skylines on the planet.
🛕 Man Mo Temple — one of the city’s oldest temples, a reminder of its deep traditional roots amid modernity.
🚠 Victoria Peak — offering panoramic views that symbolise Hong Kong’s ascent as a global financial powerhouse.
🌆 Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade — a waterfront emblem of the city’s cosmopolitan character and colonial history.
