The Dahuchi Section of Yongwu Highway in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, is a 3.1-mile (5.05-km) road across Poyang Lake, Chinaβs largest freshwater lake.
Dubbed the "most beautiful over-water highway," it submerges just below the surface during the rainy season (MayβAugust) when water levels reach about 61 feet (18.6β18.7 meters), creating the illusion of driving on water. This scenic effect draws many tourists.
The road closes if levels exceed 62 feet (19 meters) and fully submerges above 66 feet (20 meters), sometimes acting as a dock. Its unique design and changing landscape make it a popular destination.
