Ask Allah to Bless Your Evening

We have entered the evening and at this very time the whole kingdom belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of this night: its victory, its help, its light, and its blessings and guidance. I seek Your protection from the evil that is in it and from the evil that follows it.

Abū Mālik al-Ashʿarī (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When one of you enters the morning, they should say [the above]; and when they reach the evening, they should say the same.” (Abū Dāwūd 5084)

Here is the du'a :

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ غَضَّ الْبَصَرِ وَعِفَّةَ الْفَرْجِ

Transliteration:
Allahumma inni as'aluka ghaddal-basar wa 'iffatal-farj

Translation:
O Allah, I ask You for the ability to lower my gaze and protect my chastity.

Here is what the scholars said:

This du'a asks for:

· Ghaddal-basar — the ability to lower your gaze
· Iffatal-farj — protection of your chastity

Before the temptation comes.

The Prophet ﷺ also said:

"The eyes commit zina — and their zina is the look."

Every glance is a small act of zina.
Every second look is a step toward the sin.

And this du'a protects you from both.

Learn the difference between Heavy (Tafkhīm) and Light (Tarqīq) letters
Some Arabic letters are always pronounced with a heavy sound:
خ ص ض غ ط ظ ق

A helpful phrase to remember them: "خص ضغط قظ"
Example:
صِرَاطَ → pronounce ص with a full, heavy sound.
قَالَ → pronounce ق with a deep sound.
The rest of the Arabic letters are generally read with a lighter sound.
