I just spoke with a correction officer who works at Rikers Island.
I asked him what he thought about the new bill the city council is trying to pass.
the quote, the officer stated
.
" This is another prime example of how out of touch city council is with NYC's inmate population. Time and time again, they propose legislation that endangers both staff and Persons in custody. This, however, is a new low, endangering inmates during transport when there is no absolutely no backup. No matter how dangerous the jails are, there are additional staff members outside of a housing area. Consider this, the reality is Inmates are professionals at secreting and concealing weapons, imagine uncuffed inmates brutally assaulting each other while in traffic on the BQE or the Grand central on the way to court, will the city council explain this to an inmates family ?The handcuffing during transport is the basis for the safety of all those involved. It is not a punitive in any sense. This bill is an attempt to ensure chaos and move the NYC Dept of Correction towards federal receivershipIt's a poor chess move using Inmates, and Correction officers are pawns in their insidious game

#update. Last week cops showed up to the Row , Roosevelt, and the Watson migrants hotel and took all the illegal scooters that didn't have license plates or registration from in front of the hotel. Cops tell me in the past few weeks that they were able to track stolen goods that were robbed during robberies back to certain migrants hotels. Cops tell me these illegal scooters have been causing havoc in the streets of NYC . They tell me they are almost impossible to catch. This might have sparked the NYPD to take away illegal scooters.

The East Village NYC.
I was told that over 3000 migrants are set to be reprocessed at the reprocessing center. Some have reached their 30-day limit.
Reverend vargas runs a church right next door to the center and has been stepping in where the federal government has failed and feeds 100s of migrants a day . The rev stated that if he doesn't feed them, they will end up committing crimes to feed themselves. He stated that the community needs to come together to fix this mess ( migrant crisis) and that the migrant are human just like us .
City officials have stated for months that they have run out of money and room for the migrants. And have pleaded with the federal government to help or close the front door .

During a briefing, the NYC Mayor Eric Adams goes over the 30 - and 60-day limit at migrant shelters. He states that people who are saying the migrants are being " evected " are not being honest. The migrants are given a place to live in between being reprocessed. He also states that due to his policy, he saved the city millions, if not billions of dollars. He also stated why NYC should taxpayers pay for migrants for the rest of their lives.
Some city council members are calling on the mayor to give the migrants permitted housing paid for by taxpayers.

How shoplifting has caused business to shut down.
I visited multiple store locations in my area. Some that are on the verge to close and some that have closed due to the alarming uptick of shopping . Store employees tell me their bosses tell them not to get involved and to just call 911. Stores have locked almost every behind glass Partitions, including chocolates in candy. Some NYC lawmakers are in supporters of shoplifting under the Guidelines of saying " people are hungry," but most of the time, shoplifters are lifting everything but food .
Some NYPD officers are told not to do anything due to some district attorneys not prosecuting petty theft, and the cops who do make arrests tell me the shoplifters are out before the paperwork is done .

He stated he's there calling for a ceasefire. But last week, Israel gave hamas an opportunity for one. But they denied it. So the man walks away .
