Shangri-La Dialogue 2019: Zero-sum dynamic makes it hard to reach agreement between US & China. But it is in their interest to keep their relationship steady, so they can focus on domestic priorities.

Shangri-La Dialogue 2019: It is natural that the US & China will vie for power & influence, but competition should not inevitably lead to conflict. We hope they find a constructive way forward.

Shangri-La Dialogue 2019: To expect every country to adopt the same values & systems is neither reasonable nor realistic. Diversity is humankind’s strength. There is much we can learn from each other.

Shangri-La Dialogue 2019: We must work together to maximise the chances that countries will make the right choices, opt for peace & cooperation, and preserve the progress we have made together.
