A verb shows:

๐Ÿ“ Mini-Lesson: The Two Faces of "YET"

Did you know "yet" has two completely different jobs in English? Let's break it down! ๐Ÿ‘‡

1๏ธโƒฃ "Yet" as a Conjunction
It connects two ideas and means "but" or "however" (แŒแŠ• / แˆ†แŠ–แˆ). It shows a surprising contrast.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Example: It was raining heavily, yet we went for a walk.
(แŠจแ‰ฃแ‹ต แ‹แŠ“แ‰ฅ แŠฅแ‹จแ‹˜แАแ‰  แАแ‰ แˆญ แˆ†แŠ–แˆ (แŒแŠ•) แˆˆแŠฅแŒแˆญ แŒ‰แ‹ž แ‹ˆแŒฃแŠ•แข)

2๏ธโƒฃ "Yet" as an Adverb

It usually comes at the end of a sentence and means "until now" (แŒˆแŠ“ / แŠฅแˆตแŠซแˆแŠ•). We use it mostly in negatives and questions.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Example: I haven't finished my coffee yet.
(แ‰กแŠ“แ‹ฌแŠ• แŒˆแŠ“ แ‹ˆแ‹ญแˆ แŠฅแˆตแŠซแˆแŠ• แŠ แˆแŒจแˆจแˆตแŠฉแˆแข)

๐Ÿ‘‡ Your Turn!
Try writing one sentence using YET in the comments! Are you team Conjunction or team Adverb today?

Good morning Learneta Family! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿพ

Native speakers speak almost entirely in lexical chunksโ€”ready-made combinations of words that come naturally. Learning these chunks will help you sound more fluent than simply memorizing individual words.

Here are five common ones:

๐Ÿ—ฃ Phrasal Verb: figure out
โžก๏ธ "I can't figure out this question."

๐Ÿ’ฌ Idiom: break the ice
โžก๏ธ "Let's play a game to break the ice."

๐Ÿค Collocation: make a decision
โžก๏ธ "It's time to make a decision."

โœจ Fixed Expression: at the end of the day
โžก๏ธ "At the end of the day, your effort matters most."

๐ŸŒŸ Sentence Starter: As far as I'm concerned...
โžก๏ธ "As far as I'm concerned, this is the best solution."

๐Ÿ’ก Challenge: Can you write one sentence using any of these lexical chunks? Share it in the comments!

The best answer for this, and one that is used quite casually, is running errands.

I have some errands to run today = แ‹›แˆฌ แ‹จแ‰ฐแ‹ˆแˆฐแŠ‘ แŒ‰แ‹ณแ‹ฎแ‰ฝ แŠ แˆ‰แ‰ฅแŠแข

Errands are short trips made to do normal things like buying grocery, taking kids to school, or handling some stuff at a certain office.
