🌟 We follow Qur'aan and Sunnah, why take from al-Mazaahib al-Arbaa'? Isn't this Taqleed?! 🌟

❗️This doubt is often raised, even by some graduates from well-known institutions. Unfortunately, it stems from the false notion that al-Mazaahib al-Arbaa’ are NOT built upon the Qur'aan and Sunnah. Such arguments absurdly suggest that these great Aaimmah took from sources like the Bible or Tawrah – a baseless and misinformed claim! Even those who claim to take from Qur'aan and sunnah are taking their opinions from someone unless they are MUJTAHIDS themselves!!!

📚 Numerous scholars have clarified this misconception, including:
🔹 Dr. Mutlaq Jaasir
🔹 Dr. Aamir Behjat
🔹 Dr. Saleh ibn Abdullaah al-Usyami
...and many others, hafizahumullaah.

💡 To address this, we share a short yet impactful clip from Dr. Aamir Behjat hafizahullaah. May Allah guide us to the truth and protect our understanding of the Deen.

Translation:

This perception is 100% incorrect. Some people, when asked about their school of thought, respond with "Hanbali," "Shafi'i," "Maliki," or "Hanafi." Is this permissible or not?

We say it is permissible, and there is hardly any disagreement about this in terms of affiliation that does not result in *partisanship*. Some people refrain from this and, when asked about their school of thought, say, I follow the Qur'an and Sunnah, imagining that affiliating with one of these schools of thought means abandoning the Qur'an and Sunnah—Allaah forbid.

It is a misunderstanding to think that there is a path called "the path of the Qur'an and Sunnah" and another parallel path called "the path of the jurisprudential schools." This perception is completely incorrect.

One of the consequences of this perception is that you find a student asking, "Which is better: studying jurisprudence based on evidence (Fiqhud Daleel) or studying the jurisprudence of the schools (Fiqhul Mazaahib)?" This question itself is based on an error because it rests on the premise that these schools of thought are not based on jurisprudence derived from evidence. This is a very serious mistake. In fact, all these schools—without exception—are jurisprudence based on evidence. Do not imagine that Abu Hanifa's school of thought, for example, is not jurisprudence based on evidence, nor that Malik's school, nor Shafi'i's school, nor Ahmad ibn Hanbal's school are not (rahimahumullaah). All of them are based on jurisprudence derived from evidence without a doubt. Studying their issues and understanding their evidences is undoubtedly a study of religion and Sharia and a study of the Qur'an and Sunnah.

What is necessary for the completion of an obligation is itself an obligation.
