Laylatul Qadr could also fall on Even nights

🗓ذُكِرتْ لَيلةُ القَدْرِ [عندَه]، فقال: ما أنا مُلتَمِسُها لشَيءٍ سَمِعتُه من رسولِ اللهِ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّم إلَّا في العَشْرِ الأواخِرِ، فإنِّي سَمِعتُه يقولُ: التَمِسوها في تِسعٍ يَبقَيْنَ أو سَبعٍ يَبقَيْنَ، أو في خَمسٍ يَبقَيْنَ أو في ثَلاثِ أواخِرِ لَيلَةٍ.

Abu Bakrah Nufay‘ ibn al-Harith radhi Allaahu anhu said:
"I only seek it (i.e., Laylat al-Qadr) in the last ten (nights) because of something I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I heard him say:
'Seek it in the last ten (nights); in the nights when nine remain, or seven remain, or five remain, or in the last three nights.'"

What is the meaning of nine remain, seven remain etc?

In this hadith, ʿAbdur-Raḥmān ibn Jawshan al-Ghaṭafānī says:

“Laylat al-Qadr was mentioned,” meaning someone began speaking about the timing of Laylat al-Qadr,
“in his presence,” meaning in the presence of the Companion Abu Bakrah Nufayʿ ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Kiladah al-Thaqafī (may Allah be pleased with him).

So Abu Bakrah said:

“I do not seek it,” meaning I do not search for or try to determine the exact night of Laylat al-Qadr
and that is “because of something,” i.e., due to something
“I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said search it in the last ten nights,”
meaning: I only seek it and look for it in the last ten nights of Ramadan.

He continued:

“For I heard him say: ‘Seek it…’” meaning: search for Laylat al-Qadr
“in nine remaining (nights),” meaning the night when nine nights remain from the month.

That is interpreted as the 29th night,
but some scholars say it refers to the 22nd night,
based on whether the month is considered complete or not, and by subtracting 9 nights from 30.

So:

If the month is 30 days, subtracting 9 means the 22nd night.

If the month is 29 days, subtracting 9 means the 21st night.

So, some interpret "nine remaining" as the 21st or 22nd night, depending on the length of the month.

✏️Likewise, tonight is 28th night (which comes under the interpretation of three remains), so this could also be laylatul qadr.

shaykhah generously granted the ijazah khassah in the book umdatul ahkaam of al-imam Abdul Gani ibn Abdil wahid al-maqdisi al-hanbali rahimahullaah with her connected chain back to the author.
