HERE'S HOW DAY 1 IN DATA-ENTRY ACADEMY BATCH 15 WENT
Yesterday was 1st February 2025.
It was Day 1 in Data-Entry Academy Batch 15 and it was a Saturday.
On Saturdays in Data-Entry Academy, we hold audio Telegram sessions at 8pm WAT.
So we had our first Saturday Live Session and we discussed two topics.
Our first topic was - 5 ways to make the best out of Data-Entry Academy. It was a 30 minutes discussion
We understand that many people have never been in online schools.
We also understand that many people have never been in such a large class with thousands of classmates.
So it is important to explain and guide on how you can make the best of the Academy.
The 2nd topic was - Automating a small business with Google Tools
We discussed various Google software, then we took case studies of different types of businesses and how these software can be used to automate their processes.
In one hour, both topics were done, then we went into Q&A.
We took a lot of questions and answered them.
The session then came to a close.
Immediately the session ended, the recording of the session was sent to the group as well as written notes on the session.
As always, our sessions are super interesting and very practical.
Not just practical, but very relatable.
Filled with everyday examples all around you.
Everyone who attended the session left with a new appreciation for Google tools and how they can be used to do amazing stuff in businesses and even in their personal lives.

FROM LAGOS STREETS TO DATA-ENTRY ACADEMY
We are working with an NGO that is taking boys off the streets and sending them to learn basic digital skills in Data-Entry Academy.

THE DIGITAL CEO VERSUS THE MANUAL CEO
Mr Lawal and Mr Adigun both worked in a government establishment.
Just before they hit their retirement, they thought to start businesses with their savings.
"I don't like buying and selling businesses", Mr Lawal said.
"Me too. I prefer service-based businesses", replied Mr Adigun.
But we must think of an easy service-based business that doesn't require a lot of technical skills - they bother resolved.
They soon settled for car wash business.
They would both setup car wash businesses in different locations, share their learnings and grow together.
But...
They didn't remember that Mr Lawal was the digital one who loved to work on computers.
The way that he ran his own car wash was very different from the way that Mr Adigun ran his.
With his digital skills, Mr Lawal did the following in his car wash:
1. He setup a retail software to issue Receipts to all customers and even track a loyalty reward system. His return customer rate shot up to 62%
2. He used spreadsheets to do a daily report of sales, expenses and number of cars served
3. He wrote proposals to some corporates and got them to signup their cars in bulk for deep engine and inner wash
4. He would compile his reports month-to-month and place them next to each other, make graphs out of them and watch his growth in excitement.
Mr Adigun on the other hand had no digital skills.
Each end of day, he would reconcile his sales money with his boys and go home.
On one of the month-ends as Mr Lawal was compiling his monthly reports, his son-in-law walked him to see him.
They got talking about his car wash and he showed him his numbers, graphs and growth.

HOW MR CHUKWU BUILT HIS SIDE HUSTLE WITH DATA-ENTRY ACADEMY
In March 2024, Mr. Chukwu, a public school teacher, was struggling to make ends meet.
His salary barely covered his monthly expenses, and he wanted to start a side hustle to support his family.

In March 2024, Mr. Chukwu, a public school teacher, was struggling to make ends meet.
