SOME IMPORTANT PARLIAMENTARY TERMS

1. Act - A Bill passed by both Houses of Parliament and assented to by the President.

2. Adjournment motion - It interrupts the normal business of the Houses and draws attention to a matter of grave public importance.

3. Appropriation Bill - After the General Discussion on the Budget proposals and Voting on Demands for Grants have been completed, Government introduces the Appropriation Bill. The Appropriation Bill is intended to give authority to Government to incur expenditure from and out of the Consolidated Fund of India.

4. Bill –The draft of a legislative proposal put in the proper form which, when passed by both Houses of Parliament and assented to by the President becomes an Act.

5. Crossing the floor –Passing between the member addressing the House and the Chair which is considered breach of Parliamentary etiquette.

6. Lobby -The covered corridor immediately adjoining the Chamber and co-terminus with it.

7. Plebiscite - It is a direct vote of qualified voters in regard to some important public question.

8. Prorogation - The termination of a session of Rajya Sabha by an order made by the President under article 85(2)(a) of the Constitution.

9. Question Hour -The first hour of a sitting of the House allotted for asking and answering of questions.

10. Quorum - It is the minimum number of members of a legislature that must be present to make the proceedings valid. In case of the Parliament, the quorum of either House shall be one-tenth of the total number of members of the House.

WARRANT
A warrant is a legal document that allows someone to do something, especially one that is signed by a judge or magistrate and gives the police permission to arrest someone or search their house.
SPECIAL LEAVE PETITION
Special Leave Petition means that an individual takes special permission to be heard in appeal against any high court/ tribunal verdict. It can be filed in case a high court refuses to grant the certificate of fitness for appeal to Supreme Court of India.

Special leave petition in India holds a prime place in the Judiciary of India, and has been provided as a "residual power" in the hands of Supreme Court of India to be exercised only in cases when any substantial question of law is involved, or gross injustice has been done.

1. Education department Madhya Pradesh has decided to implement a uniform dress code for government teachers to check their personality differences.
2. Dubai has opened the tallest hotel in the world (356-metres) titled Gevora Hotel.
3. Kishan Gangolli won the National 'A' Chess Championship for Blind for the fifth consecutive time.
4. The Centre has saved Rs 56,000 crore through Aadhaar-enabled direct benefit transfer (DBT) of about 400 government schemes.
5. World Government Summit 2018 was concluded in Dubai.
6. PM Narendra Modi served the three billionth meal of Akshaya Patra, an NGO that works with the government on Mid-Day Meal Scheme. A ceremonial plaque, to mark the serving of "3rd billionth meal" by Akshay Patra Foundation, was also unveiled by Narendra Modi.
7. World's first autonomous pods were unveiled in Dubai.
8. The Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan passed the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and the Rajasthan Municipality (Amendment) Bill, 2019 to end the minimum education criterion for panchayat and civic polls candidates.

17. German scientist Manfred Eigen, who jointly won the 1967 Nobel Prize for Chemistry, passed away.
18. The 7th session of the World Government Summit held in Dubai, UAE. The main objective of the summit was to shape the future generation of governments by bringing the public and private sectors together to collaborate with world-renowned experts, it seeks to help create a positive impact for citizens worldwide.
19. Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins won the Cricket Australia's highest honour 'Allan Border Medal'.
20. President Ram Nath Kovind unveiled a life-size portrait of Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the Central Hall of Parliament House.
21. LAWASIA Human Rights Conference was held in New Delhi. LAWASIA, in association with the Bar Association of India, hosted the conference. Its motive is to explore a broad range of human rights issues of relevance in the Asia Pacific region.
22. The United States and Thailand are hosting the multi-nation Cobra military exercise 2019.
23. The Jharkhand government banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) in the State to curb its anti-national activities and for links with terror outfits like the IS.

1. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has launched DD Arunprabha at Arunachal Pradesh. He also laid foundation stone of Film and Television Institute and several other projects in the state.
2 . Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates 13th PETROTECH 2019 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.
3. Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal lays Foundation Stone of Mega Food Park at Mathura District in Uttar Pradesh.
4. INS Trikand, a front-line warship of the Indian Navy, participated in a multinational training exercise ‘CUTLASS EXPRESS – 19’. The aim of the exercise was to improve law enforcement capacity, promote regional security and progress inter-operability between the armed forces of the participating nations for the purpose of interdicting illegal maritime activity in the Western Indian Ocean.
5. In a landmark decision, Abu Dhabi has included Hindi as the third official language used in its courts, alongside Arabic and English, as part of a move designed to improve access to justice.

The annual World Employment and Social Outlook Trends for the year 2019, released by the International Labour Organization , anticipates the unemployment rates to fall to 4.9% in 2019 while the number of jobless in real terms is estimated to rise to 174 milion as the result of labour market expansion.
