🚨 Update on CLAT 2025🚨

The Consortium of National Law Universities has issued a notification regarding an update on UG CLAT 2025.

The Supreme Court of India, in an interim order dated April 30, 2025, has stayed the operation of the Delhi High Court's judgment in WP (Civil) No. 4157/2025 and connected matters.

This consequently stays the publication of the revised marks/merit list. At the Consortium's request, the Supreme Court has directed that candidates who challenged the results in the Delhi High Court be issued dasti notice of the Supreme Court proceedings for expedited hearing and decision.

The case is scheduled to be heard next by the Supreme Court on May 5, 2025. Candidates who participated in the Delhi High Court proceedings are requested to take notice and arrange for representation before the Supreme Court.
Suresh Kumar v. State of Haryana & Ors.

πŸ“Œ Key Points:

πŸ”ΉSupreme Court held that delay in filing appeal cannot be a reason to deny just, fair, and reasonable compensation to landowners.

πŸ”ΉBench: Justices Sanjay Karol and Manmohan.

πŸ”ΉCourt emphasized the right to property under Article 300A and directed liberal condonation in land acquisition cases.

πŸ”ΉReference made to Huchanagouda v. Assistant Commissioner where long delay was condoned considering poverty and illiteracy.

πŸ”ΉHowever, no interest will be granted for the period of delay in filing appeal.

βœ… Conclusion:

Appeal allowed; High Court to reconsider the matter on merits, uninfluenced by delay.

Rajan Chadha & Anr. v. Sanjay Arora

πŸ“Œ Key Points:

πŸ”ΉSupreme Court held that once a High Court Judge finds a party guilty of contempt, another Single Judge cannot re-examine or overturn that finding.

πŸ”ΉBench: Justices BR Gavai and Augustine George Masih.

πŸ”ΉCourt said that doing so violates judicial propriety and amounts to exercising appellate jurisdiction, which is impermissible.

πŸ”ΉRespondent's proper remedy was to appeal under Section 19 of the Contempt of Courts Act, not to seek a review by another Single Judge.

πŸ”ΉThe second judgment was set aside; matter remitted back for proceedings from the stage of initial contempt finding.

βœ… Conclusion:
Judicial discipline requires respect for coordinate bench decisions; appellate remedy must be duly followed.
