Air India AI171 Crash – Suo Motu Request to Supreme Court

Two doctors, Dr. Saurav Kumar and Dr. Dhruv Chauhan, have written to the Chief Justice of India urging the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of the recent Air India Flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad.

Immediate Relief: ₹50 lakh interim compensation requested for victims’ families, including resident doctors.

Legal Basis: Referenced SC’s Triveni Kodkany v. Air India (2020) ruling on compensation principles.

Further Demands:

🔹Formation of a High-Level Expert Committee.

🔹Quick settlement of claims by Air India.

🔹Long-term rehabilitation and jobs for affected families.

🔹A detailed investigation into the cause of the crash.

They argue that Montreal Convention limits are inadequate and urgent government intervention is necessary.
