An Indian Air Force Tejas fighter jet crashed in the United Arab Emirates on Friday while taking part in the Dubai Airshow 2025. The pilot flying the jet has died in the crash, confirms the Indian Air Force in a post on X. The Indian Air Force confirmed that a crash had taken place in Dubai and that further details were awaited.
The Tejas jet went down around 2:10 pm. local time while performing a flying display for spectators at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai World Central. A video of the crash showed the fighter jet plunging towards the ground before exploding into a ball of fire. The video did not show any ejection having taken place.
The crash unfolded in front of a crowd that included families, as dark smoke rose over the airport and emergency responders rushed to the site.
Confirming the incident, an Indian Air Force spokesperson said, “A Tejas of IAF has crashed in Dubai Air Show-25. Further details are being ascertained at the moment. Will give further details in some time.”
