🏛 Case Title: State of Maharashtra v. Kamal Ahmed Mohd. Vakil Ansari & Ors.

📌 Bombay High Court Acquits All Accused in 7/11 Mumbai Train Blasts Case

🔹 All 12 accused were acquitted on July 8, 2024.
🔹 Court said prosecution failed to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.
🔹 Witness testimonies were unreliable; recovery of bombs/guns/maps deemed immaterial as bomb type was never clearly established.
🔹 One accused, Kamal Ansari, died in prison during COVID-19 (2021).

Background:
🔹 On July 11, 2006, 7 bombs exploded in Mumbai local trains, killing 189 & injuring 824.
🔹 In 2015, a trial court gave death to 5 and life to 7 under MCOCA.

Appeal Delay:
🔹 Case pending in HC since 2015;
🔹 Special bench formed in July 2024 for day-to-day hearings.

⚖️ Arguments:
🔹 Defence (S Muralidhar, Nitya Ramakrishnan, etc): Case was flawed, trial court erred.
🔹Prosecution (Raja Thakare): Sought confirmation of death sentence as “rarest of rare”.
