Use molava v4 to upgrade moshell or reinstall moshell + cygwin, automatically and easy way. ❇️😁

We discovered a new bug in moshell that lead us in cygwin with a warning like:

Your cygwin is too old. Upgrade it to latest version

We investigate the situation and we tried both molava and a fully manual installation in another system and its still there. Our app have the latest version of cygwin setup + JRE and download the latest stable cygwin (3.6.10) but in the main page of cygwin website the recent version written down as 3.6.9. Moshell checks it and curl them with that and thats why it thinks if

> 3.6.9

so that means only 3.6.8/7/6/...

Im going to investigate this more

Okay. latest MoShell 26.0l files in their zip file is from July ‎3, ‎2026 (26-7-3), but cygwin 3.6.10 released in 26-7-13. so thats the reason this warning happens. a fact is that moshell will run without any problem. nothing is wrong but we like to see why this warning showed up for the place and time it should NOT.

The investigation confirmed that the issue is not related to Cygwin or its installation process, but rather to a bug in Moshell’s version validation logic. Moshell correctly retrieves the installed Cygwin version as 3.6.10-1.x86_64, but the version check in prog.awk uses an incorrect regular expression. The current Regex pattern "^3\.([1-5]\.|6\.[1-3])" is intended to detect outdated versions below 3.6.4, but it does not define a proper version boundary. As a result, versions such as 3.6.10, 3.6.11, 3.6.12, and 3.6.13 are incorrectly matched as 3.6.1. The Regex only checks the beginning of the string and ignores the remaining digits, causing Moshell to falsely report the installed version as too old. The root cause is therefore an implementation defect in Moshell’s Regex-based version comparison mechanism, not a problem with the Cygwin environment. Correcting the Regex to properly validate version boundaries will resolve the issue and prevent newer Cygwin releases from being misclassified.

Only thing we have to do is wait after the 3.6.1X versions get released 😎❤️

if you still see the ERROR: cygwin version is too old. Please upgrade to latest. dont panic, and ignore. It happened to my PC and might not show you the error, but MoLava will install you the latest version of cygwin/moshell and its setup. i think the root of the problem is the moshell itself, ericsson will fix it in next version. (i hope 😁)

and if you see MoLava tells "you dont have any internet connection" check if google.com & github.com will open or ping for you. if yes. wait a moment and warning will be gone and AutoSetup button will be showed to you. If not read this warning:

⚠️ WARNING: IF YOUR SYSTEM LANGUAGE IS NOT SET TO ENGLISH APP WILL NOT SENSE IF YOU HAVE INTERNET AND CAUSE THAT MESSAGE. CHANGE IT TEMPORARILY. JUST CHANGE WINDOWS DISPLAY LANGUAGE TO ENGLISH SO APP WORK FINE! 😉. If that doesn't fixed the problem. Reset networks or update windows and see if Unicode CHCP parameters are right. This is probably a issue with old build of windows 11/10 or bad network parameters.

We upgraded all our internal and some external servers with inbound and outbound. Unfortunately, due to our team's frustration with uptime and the increase in the price of cloud infrastructure services and the unreasonable abuse of servers and the misbehavior of ArvanCloud and support, we had to completely disconnect and migrate to another main infrastructure provider. We use arvan servers now only for small and some 2x2 Packages, and some object-defined backups of MBDBLIB (LSDBLIB)

By August 1, 2026 and simultaneously with the release of LS018. We will upgrade our infrastructure to a much better, more organized, more efficient and less expensive infrastructure provider. We already had this plan. Because we are extremely sensitive to dont having or a having a issue at the high speed and satisfaction of our dear users of our service.

Now 1.5~1.7 GB files can be uploaded/resync forwarded in 8x8 modulation and bandwidth aggregation in about 27 ~ 31 seconds. (stored in a Drive Server- LSDBLIB)

And only few +1.8 GB files because they are big and their parameters aren't are not compressed with MasterBase, are Resync forwarded directly to you (saved as temp in a private channel and will resync every month), other big +2GB files are splitting with 1.5 or 1.0 GB Sizes and support 8x8/4x4
