Deep Dive: Nominal Yield vs. Real Yield
One of the most misunderstood concepts in crypto is where yield actually comes from.
In many DeFi protocols, high APYs are generated through emissions. The protocol prints new tokens to reward stakers. While your token count goes up, the total supply inflates, often exerting downward pressure on the price. This is Nominal Yield, you have more tokens, but they might be worth less.
BaseCase is built on a different economic model: Real Yield.
When the platform goes live, the yield won't come from printing new supply. It will come from actual economic activity.
How the Economic Engine will function: Because BaseCase markets are denominated in USDC, the revenue flow is structurally efficient:
- Settlement: A market resolves.
- Collection: Fees are deducted directly from the pot in USDC.
- Distribution: Since the revenue is already a stablecoin, no swaps or sell-pressure are required. The USDC is distributed pro-rata to $CASE stakers.
The Structural Advantage: This model solves the Staker's Dilemma. Usually, to realize a profit from staking, you have to sell the reward token (which hurts the project).
With the BaseCase architecture, you won't need to sell the asset to realize the yield. You hold the asset, and it generates cash flow in a separate, stable currency.
This ensures that as platform volume grows, value flows directly to the governance layer without diluting the supply.
