Dogs in hot cars can suffer from potentially fatal heat stroke in as little as 15 minutes. Dogs die in hot cars as they can overheat very quickly and struggle to cool themselves down, even when a window has been left open or water has been left in the car. https://ello.co/lapazbcs/post/6d30n10qdz5wugl_ssd0qw
If you are planning a vacation in where the sun is your companion and nature the scenery of all those new memories, you're probably thinking of visiting La Paz, the perfect place for nature lovers, especially aquatic settings.
The location of La Paz makes one of the most common ways to get there is by crossing the Baja California Peninsula by ferry from Mazatlán and Topolobampo, Sinaloa, to the port of Pichilingue. https://lapazbcs.xyz/tourism
Kitesurfing at La Paz bay - not necessarily a very popular activity here vs. the kiteboarders spots at El Sargento to La Ventana on the Sea of Cortez / Gulf of California site. Still a nice location. We talked to some of the surfers and they like the less challenging conditions. Sounds perfect for beginners…..https://viva.la-paz-mex.com/post/651395268507516928/kitesurfing
Briefly before sunset time - “official” sunset was at 19:57hr today - a few shots of the Ensenada de La Paz. Unfortunately is the zoom function not overly good on camera used so the further away images somewhat blurry, however, it display what we no like to show: smoking as it should not be from the smokestacks at the termoelectrica Punta Prieta - one of the 2 thermos electric power-plants in La Paz https://social.la-paz-bcs.com/post/651398076173598720/ensenadalapaz
Fuel that is so dirty that the global shipping industry banned its use last year is being burned at the highest level in Mexican power plants.
State oil company PEMEX produces quantities amounts of fuel oil unintentionally because its refineries lack the technology to extract cleaner fuels from the sludge that is leftover during the initial process of turning crude into gasoline.
Therefore, the more gasoline the country’s refineries produce, the more extra fuel oil they have to find a home for. With the global shipping industry shunning sulfurous fuel oil to curb emissions, storage tanks in Mexico are overflowing with the stuff, a byproduct of its attempt to produce more gasoline domestically.
The solution Mexico has chosen is to push more of it into electricity generation, replacing cleaner-burning natural gas.
Replacing natural gas, which it imports from the U.S., with fuel oil is certain to raise Mexico’s emissions. http://www.la-paz-bcs.com/la-paz-news/dirtymexico
When you think of Mexico, dogs probably aren’t the first thing that comes to mind. But outside of the resorts and villas that most tourists associate with Mexico, things are different.
The country has the largest number of street dogs in Latin America. The National Institute of Statistics and Geography estimates that about 70 percent of the 18 million dogs in Mexico live on the street, born as strays or simply abandoned. - Please help Francisco and the volanteers!! https://streetdogs.baja-business.com/2021/05/streetdogs.html
Soccer’s international governing body Friday punished Mexico for the use of homophobic slurs by its fans on multiple occasions this year, ordering the program to stage two official home matches without spectators. https://www.facebook.com/LaPazBajaSurMexico/posts/10160313681973539

Mexican sweet shops and artisans whose sales have suffered since the onset of the pandemic are now making iconic sugar skulls and creating traditional and modern handicrafts from a variety of materials in preparation for the Day of the Dead, a holiday they hope will give a much-needed boost to their businesses.
The edible, colorful and joyful “calaveritas de azucar,” or skulls made from sugar or chocolate and decorated with icing, have become one of Mexico’s most iconic treats and are omnipresent during the Day of the Dead festivities (Nov. 1 and 2).

There is a major pickpocket operation in La Paz right now. The MO is to put some substance (looks like blood or poop) on your car or your back then offer to help you remove it. During the diversion or rubdown your wallet/purse are gone. It's happened on the Malecon, the marinas, Walmart, Liverpool - where ever gringos are found. At a minimum don't let them help. If you can get a photo, take it to the Tourist police on the Malecon, or call 911.
Unfortunately today quiet good visible: La Paz bay is smoking again. It’s been a while we seen that intense smog flow across the bay but maybe we just missed it. Feel free to share your observations!

Today, 7th January 2022, we are 1 week into the new year… time fly’s :)! Excellent weather in La Paz, our contributor was out there before noon. Not to many folk around, holidays (yesterday Epiphany/Day of the Holy Kings) and a pretty severe uptick with Covid-19 infections may be the reason.
