معنی تحت اللفظی:

آویزان کردن لباس ها از بند رخت، بعد از شستن تا خشک شود

تعریف مفعول/ جای مفعول در جمله انگلیسی کجاست؟
تعریف مفعول:
به کسی یا چیزی که کار بر روی او انجام شده
مثال: 
Ali opened the door.
The airplane took many people to Shiraz.

در این دو جمله، the door و many people که کار بر روی آنها انجام شده، مفعول بحساب می آیند.

همانطوریکه ملاحظه می کنید جای آنها در جمله بعد از فعل است.

حالا،
می توانیم بجای the door بگوییم "آن را"، و بجای many people بگوئیم "آنها را"، یعنی از ضمائر مفعولی استفاده کنیم. (ضمیر کلمه ای ست که بجای اسم بکار می رود)
ضمائر مفعولی:
مفعول → فاعل

I → me من را، به من
you → you تو را، شما را، به تو، به شما
he → him او را، به او (مذکر
she → her او را ، به او (مونث
it → it به آ، آن را
we → us ما را، به ما
they → them
