once, just once, i want to see these bitter fucking cunts on fox or nbc or whatever channel ask real people what they think. go to a normal ass town somewhere, and a normal ass city, and at random talk with 10 people from each and record their responses. better yet, just invite them on live tv to talk. but that will never happen, because news corporations have no soul and no integrity, and just want to lay out the slop for their boomer audience so they keep their cable tv bill revenue coming.

this is largely why we have such a huge generational gap in those who do and don't watch tv, tv has always been fake 100% but at least user generated content on sloptube has a chance of being real on some level
to be clear, i don't wholly agree with gerbie either. "just eat better and lift bro" doesn't cut it. you can't outlift and outrun societal decay, and the amount of insulation these things provide grows more minimal every year. gerbie at least still has some measure of hope, i don't. things are shit and are basically permanently shit until the current system collapses on itself, which we are approaching. men working 40+h a week, alone, not pairing off and women working 40ish hours a week, alone, having flings or also being alone is totally unsustainable. economically speaking, it is only favorable to break apart the family for so long, because eventually people will be too poor to buy shit or too miserable to buy shit. when that happens, you'll see an immediate inversion of all this. advertising will shift, culture will shift along with, everything will be happy again because megacorps wanted to make money again.

all hail the grand american petrodollar
i don't think people outside america understand that 95% of american culture is just advertisements. we basically just let megacorps guide our entire conscious perception of life. this is why all the flat minimalist shit is being hated on so hard, because that's a vast majority of what americans interact with. when your perception of the world is tied to advertisements and corporations, because america is basically just the perfect capitalist state, suddenly it makes advertisement and corporate presentation disproportionately important. from the 1700s until the early 1900s america had style, there were regionally based styles in architecture and art, and now it's just a massive soup
for the record, this is fine when it's guided by consumerism. honest capitalism works great since it's driven by the people buying your shit. tell them to fuck off, they fuck off, yoy go under since no one buys your product. the problem arrives when you have massive ass companies stronger than some countries that can tell the consumer to fuck off, and have it not matter since they and all the other megacorps are in on it together. microsoft, sony, nintendo, apple, just generally big tech; along with supermarket chains, grocery, distributors, all of them no longer have to try anymore and that results in flat and boring designs. advertisements no longer operate under the assumption that business needs to be secured, they operate under the assumption that they are reminding people to go buy shit like good little goy that they are. hence, it all feels like an insult: no care is taken in UI design, storefronts are eminently bland, everything is flat and lacking any kind of design characteristic aside from the pure absence of design.
and since america is governed basically by money and business, this sets the whole tone for the culture. american culture, because it is corporate slop soup, is now uninteresting, lacking any kind of character, flat, repetitive, bland, boring, minimalist, and devoid of any redeeming qualities. so people now act like it. now people are boring bland, repetitive, etc.

very seriously, americans are turning into slop homonculi because ads are shit now. i am not joking. corporate media is that powerful here. when tech ui, physical design, and advertisements/storefronts become more lively so too will america.
this extends to other western countries as well, but to a lesser extent. europe doesn't have it as bad simply because they have thousands of years of history to work with, and you can't go 25 miles without some historic relic. that's not the case here. we have been around in our current form for ~200 years. the closest we get to what euros have is some random ass fort or town hall. a repurposed pizza hut is more recognized and carries more weight since people actually have a connection to that
