basically, they did the *exact same shit* cod is doing, but after "feedback" issued refunds and walked back prices for those who haven't yet purchased the bundles. also he explains why they decided battle royale was the right way to go, and upcoming content for all modes along with ranked and mastery challenges.

jesus christ. it took these people precisely a day after launch to fuck up the good will they had garnered over beta. i don't even want to ask why they decided doing the actiblizz universally hated $90+ dollar bundle thing was a good idea, because it's not, and everyone despises it except for the most die hard cod fans. same shit with battle royale, that's the most bog standard safe-corpo "mix it up just enough" mode possible. yeah, it's fun, and i do like battle royale, but it's terrible with splitgate mechanics. they jankfucked an arena shooter into a battle royale, just like cod did, and it feels the same because of it. it's warzone with portals for better or worse, and briefly had the same shit monetization.

the only reason i'm not going to completely blow them up over all this is because they changed it so quickly, issued refunds, and assured lots of upcoming content. that is the right way to handle this kind of fuckup, and again props to the devs for being so prompt bla bla bla but *why the fuck* did it happen at all? yes, it's the right thing to do to fix the issue, but it never should have been an issue at all.
