answer: it is basically uncrushable.

this beetle has special joints in its shell that allow it to withstand extreme pressures, it can't be crushed by an SUV and it's effectively inedible to lizards or birds. the way it works is kind of like joinery, but only in certain areas, so certain parts are locked together perfectly but others are allowed to move. when it does eventually start to give way, there are proteins that flow into any cracks to heal damage and reinforce the shell after stress.

rip zilog z80, it almost made it 50 years.

the z80 was the cpu for everything from OG gameboy to military tech to keyboards during its lifespan. endlessly versatile and extremely cheap to produce, but apparently zilog is sick of making them/no demand.

idk if i have to blame IoT/cloud or muh chip shortage for this, but it pisses me off a little bit. now people are going to have to work with new shit, when z80s are still in use today. if it's not broken, don't fix it, and definitely don't stop making the thing that isn't broken.
