Protests in Penjwen district, west of Sulaimani province, have blocked the Bashmakh border crossing with Iran.

Demonstrators demand better services, arguing their town has been neglected despite the border crossing generating millions of dollars in monthly revenue.

This PUK-controlled crossing is a key route for smuggling oil via trucks into Iran.

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Sunday met with Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji in which both sides discussed the threat of terrorism, and the challenges facing Iraq as a result of regional conflicts, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency.

“Both parties stressed the importance of collaboration and coordination between the Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to tackle security issues. They both recognized the need for all parties to work together in order to maintain peace and stability in the country,” the statement read.

The Kurdistan Region President thanked and recognized the National Security Advisor and his team for their effort to maintain security and stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

An LPG pipeline rupture has plunged a village into crisis in southwestern Kirkuk, compelling its residents to swiftly evacuate amidst fears of a catastrophic explosions. @KurdishFrontNews
"We woke up at 03:00 am to a loud noise coming from near our village and it turned out that the gas pipeline had broken again," Mohammad Qzlyari, a resident of the village, told Rudaw.

The pipeline carries liquefied gas between the Northern Oil and Gas Company, is the second time the same incident has happened in a short time.

"The villagers were forced to leave the area for their safety after the sound of the explosion," Mohammed said.

The Sulaimani-based Diplomatic media outlet alleges that prominent Salafi scholar Abdulatif Ahmed has employed a team of 15 IT professionals operating from a private office to conduct cyberattacks against any Facebook or social media page that criticizes him or broadcasts reports portraying him in a negative light.

The outlet claims Abdulatif Ahmed's team has penalized their Facebook page seven times through copyright infringement claims, which they assert constitutes cybercrime.

A teenager was sexually assaulted and killed by three men working for Iran's security forces, a leaked document understood to have been written by those forces says.

It has let us map what happened to 16-year-old Nika Shakarami who vanished from an anti-regime protest in 2022.

Her body was found nine days later. The government claimed she killed herself.

Marked "Highly Confidential", the report summarises a hearing on Nika's case held by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) - the security force that defends the country's Islamic establishment. It includes what it says are the names of her killers and the senior commanders who tried to hide the truth.

It contains disturbing details of events in the back of an undercover van in which security forces were restraining Nika, These include:

she fought back, kicking and swearing.

An admission that this provoked the men to beat her to death with batons.

According to a new ruling by the Iraqi High Electoral Court regarding Kurdisran elections, all ballot boxes will be counted manually and electronically on election day at polling stations in the presence of representatives from all political parties.

The court also stipulated that even in the event of technical issues, neither any party nor the electoral commission can move the ballot boxes until the manual counting of all boxes is completed at the polling stations, with representatives of all political parties and the commission present.
