SESSION 8: Neuroanatomy: Spine & Neurosurgery on Wednesday, 22th November 2023, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
PART 1: Part 1: PEER-ASSISTED TEACHING – Spine neuroanatomy teaching led by junior doctors/senior medical students 😍
PART 2: SURGICAL APPLICATION - Surgical teaching led by an expert surgeon taking you through the surgical anatomy of common surgical procedures in spine neurosurgery.
Introducing your Expert Surgeon for the evening: Mr Marcin Czyz 😍💉
Mr Czyz is a Consultant Spine Neurosurgeon at the University Hospitals Birmingham.
He has completed his fellowship training in Nottingham and New York. Mr Czyz is also a Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. His special interests are in spinal carcinoma, complex spinal reconstruction, minimally invasive surgery and genomics.

💉 Lumbar puncture;
💉 Spinal tumour resection;
💉 Correction of spinal deformities.

Mr Nanayakkara is currently working as a specialty trainee in UGI surgery at Royal Derby Hospital. He started his surgical career in 2015, completing registrar training in 2018 and senior fellowship in 2020. Subsequently, Mr Nanayakkara came to the UK for specialized training in UGI training and entered to specialist registry in Sri Lanka as a consultant general and UGI surgeon in 2022. Currently, he is pursuing a career as a UGI surgeon in the UK.
