You may encounter issues while using special keys (Home ,end,tab) with zsh/oh-my-zsh prompt in tmux

The simple solution is to create ~/.inputrc and put following and reload session.

"\e[8~": end-of-line

"\e[H": beginning-of-line
"\e[F": end-of-line

What's the difference between termux and terminal emulator for android?

Termux itself a Linux terminal emulator for android. When you compare other terminal emulator with termux then termux support apt where termux has 1000+ package. I didn't find any terminal yet which supports packages

* Most of the terminal use system shell where termux have own shell and comes by default with bash and support other shell as well(fish,zsh)

* Termux support a range of programming languages including python,swift,ruby,golang etc

* Termux have vibrant forum/community world wide.

How can have packages in other terminal as well ?

You can have packages with other terminals as well. But will have to compile them on your own.

I can run java code via termux in my device (pie) with dalvikvm.

Few guys claims dalvikvm can't execute code in android pie but look like that's not true for all devices.

Here are the steps to checkout.

Requirements: dx , ecj

#1. Save this code into hello.java

class HelloWorld { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Hello, World!"); } }

#2 Now compile it via ecj.

ecj hello.java

It will output a file, HelloWorld.class

#3 Now generate dex file.


dx --dex --output=Main.dex HelloWorld.class


#4 Now execute your java bytecode with android java virtual machine.


dalvikvm -cp Main.dex HelloWorld


Output: Hello world!
