🌐 Global Crypto Regulations Tighten as 2026 Begins

Several major cryptocurrency regulations take effect on January 1, 2026:

🇪🇺 European Union: New tax reporting rules require crypto exchanges and intermediaries to submit detailed user and transaction data to national tax authorities (DAC8 / CARF-aligned).

🇬🇧 United Kingdom: Exchanges must now provide full user and transaction reports to HMRC.

🇻🇳 Vietnam: Cryptocurrencies and digital assets gain formal legal recognition under new national legislation.

🇱🇹 Lithuania: Unlicensed crypto service providers are barred from operating; MiCA licensing becomes mandatory.

🇭🇰 Hong Kong: Banks face new Basel-based capital requirements for crypto asset exposures.

🇺🇿 Uzbekistan: A special legal regime allows the use of stablecoins for payments.
