The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has intensified its crackdown on unregistered financial influencers (“finfluencers”) and misleading content on social media, removing more than 1.2 lakh posts in recent months while deploying an advanced in-house AI tool named ‘Sudarshan’ to monitor the digital ecosystem at scale.
Deployment of AI tool ‘Sudarshan’

SEBI has developed and rolled out ‘Sudarshan’, an indigenous artificial intelligence-based surveillance system specifically designed to scan massive volumes of online content in multiple formats (text, audio, video, images, live streams).
Capabilities of Sudarshan:

Real-time monitoring of public social media posts, channels, groups, and reels/shorts.
Detection of patterns indicative of unregistered investment advisory activity.
Identification of misleading claims
Recognition of prohibited content formats (e.g., stock tips without research analyst registration, front-running signals).
